Sharing computer files

Ok - I got a question. I have three computers I want to be able to share files among them without copying to disk ,etc. and transferring. I don't want to connect them all to the internet, just do a local share and share the printer too. I bought a Linksys router, but I beleive that was the wrong thing to do, since I don't want to share my cable modem connection. What kind of equipment do I need to buy to do this?

T bird.......you can do what you want with a router but what you really need is a hub/switch:

You'll need networking software.....Win ME and XP have it already. Just run the utility after have the three computers hooked up. A router does more than a switch so if you can return it, I would.......otherwise, you just have a little overkill
