Lets just say if i miss it's my own falght.

not to bad for the 1st time shoting a .243 at 90 yards

the gun is a rem 700 .243

Well deer are larger than tree rats........but unlike that target, they do move.:) Good luck, lappy.:)

Lappy,
Practice, practice, practice. With a .243 at 100 yds, you should be able to cover a five shot string with a quarter (Dime even better).
Once you get the group tight move to center and about one inch high. Allow plenty of time between shooting to let the barrel cool. After you get your shooting where you want it, do some wind sprints prior to shooting. This gets your heart rate up and more simulates your condition prior to taking that shot at a Deer. It'll save some missed shots in the woods. Fine choice in rifle, but remember a .243 requires accurate placement.

Just don't shoot Bambi or his Mom.

Good luck Lappy, maybe you can supply the pemmican for the year end party. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM good stuff!

NVRA, sound good to me! I have never fired that caliber, but it must have one he11 of a kick!

Kat,
The .243 has very little recoil, and is a fine caliber. It has good trajectory and downrange energy. It's an adequate round for most southren game. Would not use it on larger or dangerous game animals (Moose, Elk, Bear). I even have a TC single shot pistol chambered for this round, fun to shoot and use on Coyotes, Foxes, Bobcats and paper targets. Has a little kick as a pistol, but you're shooting from the hand not the shoulder and a lot less weight in the firearm.
