More fodder for the Danica detractors. Enjoy.
Stewart-Haas Racing has acquired owner points for Danica Patrick’s Sprint Cup team heading into 2013, but likely not enough to ensure that Patrick doesn’t miss the Daytona 500.

Patrick drove the No. 10 car in 10 races last year but she will not have those points from last season. Instead, Stewart-Haas Racing has struck a deal with Robinson-Blakeney Racing to acquire the owner points from its No. 49 team.
Complete story and video here.

Funny thing is , they will all blame Danica for this when she was not likely even consulted . This would be Tony's decision entirely .

Happens every year and, other than Danica Patrick being involved, is nothing new.

I'm not sure how all the point swapping works but couldn't Stewart give her his points and he use a provisional if required?

It'll be new to a lot of fans . Tony has a responsibilty to his big time sponsors to guarantee that they are in the 500. This way , he throws a little cash to an underfunded team too. It's really a win/win for everybody .

I have always hated buying starts for any driver, and this isn't the only abuse. Nascar claims not to Franchise but in some ways they do. The idea of respecting partners is a point I have heard by Helton a few times, well I believe the fans are the biggest partner, and they deserve competition that has integrity.

Nascar overall does a good job, and the world isn't going to end over buying starting spots, but I still disagree with letting it to Happen, for Danica or any other driver.

Hate to disagree with you and the dogs ,Greg , but getting the big name drivers and sponsors into the show has been a big part of all motorsports and in particular Nascar since day one . You probably are too young to remember the days when promotors paid appearance fees. I understand the purity of racing mano a mano , but this is still a show .

I remember appearance fees but I fail to see how getting paid to race compares to paying to enter. Professionalism is the idea, not purity or a return to some traditions.

I understand NASCARs desire to protect big money teams, their partners. But if finicial models turned my crank, I would be posting on stock market threads or money related threads. In my opinion there impediments to putting on the best race possibile, or more simply stated bull****.

And I could care less if some bodies favorite driver misses the show. If there not fast enough they ain't worthy and putting them in ahead of a faster qualifier is wrong on many counts. If a fan is so cult like locked on must having their favorite driver getting priority, they really deserve an awful day at the track.

They should pursue non competitive forms of entertainment that offers them the security and gentleness they crave. Perhaps Globetrotter basketball were Curly and Meadowlark gets to be a winner everyday. It would be much more honest.

Tony said he wasn't going to do that.

As to the points the #10 team picked, they're good for ... 42nd place. The only time they'll come into play is if practice and qualifying get rained out for the first three races.

This is a great move because the only race Danica has a chance of winning this year is one with rain. :D

I don't see any problem with this, but it sure is fun to talk about.

She's basically driving an HMS car, unless she wrecks during qualifying or the duel she will be in the Daytona 500.

Didn't NASCAR say a long time ago that they put a stop to the points buying manure?
Really Andy ? I am surprised that you would be against Capitalism, free enterprise.and the American way.You ain't one of those ferriners are you Andy?;)

Because Reuti and Danicky could not perform well enough in their tag-team effort in 2012, Tony Stewart made other arrangements for the Number 10 car in 2013. It got Miss Thang a 37th starting spot in Sunday's race.

I hope it was worth it...
