Is something amiss over there? Tony is top 10 with multiple top 10's and Newman is 26th in points with no top 5's or 10's. Last year they seemed moreless seamless over there, and this year they appear to be 2 different race teams.
The one race they finished anywhere close was Atlanta 17th and 13th.
Newman did suffer accident, and engine at daytona, and Cali, but with those aside, his best finish is still only 16th, and Tony almost won last week.
I hope Ryan can shake the bad vibe soon, He's fun to watch mix it up when he's upfront.

I don't know but I would like to hear that Tony is running back up front consistantly. I kind of thought after the great start last yr, this might happen. But T.S. always starts getting it done mid-season.

Yeah, I know Tony is a late bloomer. It just seemed like last year, Hendricks influence was obvious over at SHR. It just doesn't seem that apparent this year.

I think Maybe Tony was tired of hearing about the line that his early success with his new venture was due to his ties to Hendrick, basically being a Hendrick satellite team. With all the racing wisdom he and Haas has, they are probrably trying to slowly ween themselves off Hendrick and start to do their own thing.

I think Tony is more of a "wheel" guy than Newman is. Tony is also a little better at giving his car the changes that it needs.

I agree. The biggest x factor today is just that.Telling the crew chief what he needs to know.Dale Sr was the best I ever saw.I think that may be what Jimmy Johnson has.The last couple of days I have heard them interviewing the drivers from the spoiler/wing test sessions. Most of them said "I didn't notice much of a difference" . Yeah? I bet that's not what Jimmy told Chad.Or maybe what Tony said. These guys have a much more sensative ass.

Well I hope Tony gets things going because I would like a win before I turn 40......just kidding Smoke! lol

I bet you Chad was working on the setup of that #48 car after the first laps in testing with the spoiler. Everyone else will worry about it during the race but as always Chad will already have it figured out.

Newman has been there he has just had bad luck racing incidents they happen, SHR will be fine I am glad they kept a two car team instead of adding someone in a third car, thats way too much responsibility

Yeah I suppose. I got all worked up, and here Newman is pacing the 1st practice. Stewart is reaming out travis Kvapil.....The world is right...:D:D

Everyone expected SHR to have a rough year last year and they surprised everyone (well most everyone - I thought they'd do fine) but now comes another year and perhaps they're having some growing pains which people expected sooner. Look at the long-standing teams. RCR had a pitiful year last year and Roush wasn't much better. It's also very early. I expect Smoke and probably Ryan will be back up to form later in the year. I also agree that Smoke has always been the better driver anyway. Ryan could always qualify well. Tony almost always closed well, no matter where he started.

Maybe they got off to such a good start last year that HMS isn't giving them the best equipment now.
