Many people have their opinion for why 5 time reigning world champion Micheal Shumachers left rear tyre went flat with five laps to go at the last race in Germany. Bridgestone analyzed the tyre and have almost excluded that the tyre went flat because of wear. The Japanese analist stated that it most indications point to a punture and also pointed out the risky pass on Jarno Trulli taking to the run off area coming out of the hairpin, as well as a track already littered with debris from other collisions.
Ron Dennis points to other options as he thinks it was caused by extreme wear and the tyre went flat because it was worn to the cords. He makes a point that Ferrari opted for the two stopper which meant tyres were worn up to 10-15 laps longer than a three stop, and the high heat and Bridgestones weakness to it didn't help either. Also pointed out was that the tyre that was in question was the left rear. If you take a look at the track or watched the race, most of the higher speed corners are right handers which means most of the load of the car is placed on this tyre.
To me it could be either one. Very possible that debris cut it although Coulthard made the same pass in the same place and suffered no complications what so ever. I lean a little more towards the pit stop and tyre choice. I think Shumacher pushed to hard and was not aware of the problems occuring as he ran. Lets hear what your thoughts are.
