Now that Mark Martin has decided about next year, and Truex is solidified at MWR, what is next on the horizon for Silly Season 09'. Who is going to the #1 DEI/GANASSI w/Felix car? When is Danica doing NA_CAR? Who will replace Jamie McMurry in the 26, will there be a #26? Inquiring minds need to know!!!

If anything I think they will put Almirola in the #1 and leave the #8 empty until Jeffrey Earnhardt is ready.

Will Brad Keselowski go to Stewart-Haas as the 3rd car? Or move away from Hendrick/Junior entirely?

Since the #1 was the first DEI car, I don't see it going away.

Which will be close to never the way that they pull him out of the car now.

Tony Stewart was right. DEI is becoming a museum.

Odds are Almirola will be in the #1 if Bass Pro Shops doesn't bolt. If they try to get out, all bets are off.

The #26 will end up at Yates.

I don't think there will be any major moves this year.

Where else could he go and be competitive? Stay with Jr running NNW and a limited cup or go full time cup with Jr pending a sponsor or go with a 3rd car with Tony. A real long shot might be with Gibbs.

I think that bridge was burnt to the ground.

One impressive stat about him: Regan Smith is the only active Cup Series driver to finish every race he has competed in.

"Now you don't have to look it up because I already did.";)

Hard to believe Juan Pablo Montoya is the face of Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing.

Maybe the US Border Patrol will come sponsor Pablo's car and Target will go on the #1 car.

And don't forget EGR owns and fields the #34 car of John Andretti as well.

I guess I never realized Andretti drove an Earnhardt/Ganassi car until I saw the points list on Jayski as far as the bottom two locked into the top 35.

Regan Smith "should" get the DEI ride, whether he does or not is another question.

Brad,I believe will stay with Jr and Jr will move up with a Cup car.

A bigger question is whether DEI / Ganassi will survive.

I don't think NASCAR's going to impose the 4-car limit, especially if Hendrick wants a 5th car (notice how they used 4 cars instead of 3:rolleyes:), so I think Kez will be in the 25 car.

It probrably doesn't mean anything, but BASS PRO is on the 1 car thru 2010.

My comment was directed that Regan prolly wouldn't consider a return there after they dropped him. :D

I think Regan deserves a better car than EGR.

i'll bite - any particular article we should be reading or do we have to read the entire site? if something is germane to this topic how about pointing me directly to it . :)

The *** Germans got nothin' to do with it.

83Wynn, the word germane has nothing to do with Germany.

It means relevant or pertinent to what is being discussed.

And, rocketeesta was spamming the site. That has been removed.

Apparently you have never seen "Smokey and the Bandit" 500 times like 83WYNNSOLDS has, best movie ever!!!

Regan Smith deserves a better ride than a has been DEI/ GANASSI car. What a wreck of a race team. Senior just flipped his grave!!!

Hey, I have an idea. Let Dale Jr start his own team in cup (88) and let Brad go cup racing in the 25.

See what winning a race does? hehe

Vickers officially signs to stay at Red Bull: Red Bull Racing Team announced that Brian Vickers has signed a multi- year extension to his contract. Vickers will continue to drive the #83 Toyota under the leadership of crew chief Ryan Pemberton. "The team is continuing to prove that it is a consistent force week in and week out," said Jay Frye, Vice President and General Manager of RBRT. "Brian has been here from the beginning and he continues to be a vital piece of the puzzle with regards to our ultimate goal of building Red Bull Racing into a consistent contender." Since joining RBRT at the beginning of the 2007 season, Vickers has racked up a win, eight top-five and 22 top-10 finishes, along with seven poles. "I'm thrilled," said Vickers. "This has been a long time coming, and there is no where else I would rather be. I am looking forward to building on what we have started the last couple of years. It is an interesting experience being with a team from the ground up going through the growing pains, then successes, together. I am so proud to have been able to bring this team their first win." The #83 currently sits 13th in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points, 12 points out of the top-12.(Red Bull Racing)(8-18-2009)

Kimberly-Clark to Partner with JTG Daugherty Racing in 2010: Kimberly-Clark announced a partnership with JTG Daugherty Racing for the 2010 season, making it a sponsor of the #47 Toyota NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car driven by Marcos Ambrose. The partnership will commence with the Daytona 500 in February and mark the 16th season Kimberly-Clark has been active in NASCAR. As sponsor, Kimberly-Clark brands will be present on the #47 for the entire 2010 season, serving as the primary sponsor on paint schemes for five races, including Daytona. The move to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series brings to end one of the longest-standing team/sponsor relationships in the Nationwide Series. "Kimberly-Clark has partnered with Baker Curb Racing and that organization for a long time," Kimberly-Clark's Don Quigley said. "We certainly wish that team the best of luck and expect it to continue finding success. We also hope nothing but the best for Jason Keller in his endeavors both on and off the track. As we graduate up, we will certainly remain fans of the Nationwide Series."(Kimberly-Clark)(8-22-2009)

I love Bootie's accent and voice. I could listen to him all day ;)
Bootie out at MWR? UPDATE: Michael Waltrip Racing's Cal Wells denies that the company and Bootie Barker have parted ways. But will Barker be the crew chief for the #55 Toyota when Sprint Cup action returns to the track next week at Atlanta?(Fox Sports)(8-26-2009)
UPDATE: ESPN's Marty Smith posted the following on his Twitter account Wednesday evening: "Yes, folks, I talked to Bootie today. He told me this: 'I will be crew chiefing, I just won't be crew chiefing the #55.' He will stay at Michael Waltrip Racing."(8-27-2009)

Irwin Tools leaving Roush? Irwin Tools appears to be ending its relationship with Roush Fenway Racing. In a release discussing the company's new title sponsorship of the August race at Bristol Motor Speedway the Irwin Tools Night Race the company stated that it was time for a "new chapter" for the company. The company has been a mainstay in the sport since 2003, serving as a primary car sponsor for Roush Fenway Racing. During that span, drivers Kurt Busch and Jamie McMurray both won races in company-sponsored Fords while Busch won the NASCAR Cup championship with that sponsorship in 2004. McMurray has been sponsored by Irwin this season. "It's been a great ride with Roush Fenway Racing," said Eric Pinkham, Newell Rubbermaid's Vice President, sponsorship and event marketing. "They clearly helped us put Irwin Tools on the map, and we appreciate what they've done for the Irwin brand. Now it's time for a new chapter for Irwin."(SceneDaily)(8-27-2009)
