Silly Season has begun...

Im sure someone else will loose their ride, silly season seems to get more intense and earlier each season.

Maybe we can start a poll, of course all in fun.

I feel that #19 Jeremy Mayfield is next. His team mate has performed well and has shown flashes but Mayfield has done absolutely nothing.

I agree with you on this one; I thought Mayfield would be gone before Park. Everham is the smart one in this game by signing Casey Atwood last week otherwise he would be an interm driver at one of the open seats.

PURE speculation and internet rumors?Ok,I will play. :)

Jeff Burton to Childress. This was actually talked a few years back. The fit would probably help RCR more than it would help Jeff, but Burton could fit in pretty good.He is used to the team concept by this point. The rumor mill has it that a win isnt just a goal for the #99...It is a neccesity. In other words:Win or leave,Jeff. And dont think for a second Roush wont cut his losses...remember Musgrave?

None of this is likely,of course...but bet the ranch,a little tension is at a slow boil between Jeff and Jack.Contracts are made to be bought out anyway.

Very true. Jeff Burton would fit in very well at RCR, bringing the experience needed to help Kevin and Robby.

If thats so, who would we see in the 99?

i would like to see jeff goto RCR, but only if Brad goes with him, those 2 work good together

I was going to say Steve Park, but DEI beat me to it, so I'll go with Jeremy.

Hey Jeremyyyyy......you'd better go read the want ads. Your days are numbered.

Well as long as we are speculating here, I'd go with Musgrave getting a ride with RCR or DEI. He is a very experienced driver and would bring a lot to the table for both teams. IMO he deserves another shot at a Cup ride. B)

robby.31, that may be the only thing that we agree on. ;)

Ted is good enough,I agree.

Speculation again:for the #99.....mmmmm?

Dont laugh.Chad Little has the experience and ability, has driven for Jack before and gets along well. All he needs is a little support from Jack this time. And Tim Brewer as crew chief would help.

I agree also with robbie.31 that Mayfields' job is in jeoporady....he hasn't lived up to expectations at all with Penske or Evernham. Scott Wimmer would fit well with Evernham, Bill could tutor him, then bring casey along as well to take over when Bill retires( which will be soon).

I would like to see Bobby Hamilton get another shot at Cup in the 30 car, his name hasn't even been mentioned, not as a permanent driver, just to finish out the year

Bobby Hamiton team mate with Kevin that would be amusing. As for Jeff Burton I would like to see Jeff in the 30. But that is not gonna happen.

I don't see Ted Musgrave or Bobby Hamilton moving up into a Cup car this year. They both have contracts in the Truck series with Dodge teams and all the open cars right now are Chevys. Plus Hamilton has already stated that he will only race in the Trucks this year for the championship.
I think Mike Wallace might get a ride in either the 01 or 30 car.

Also Hermie Sadler asked for and was giving his release from the 54 Toy's R Us Busch car.

I think that the next to lose a job, will be maybe soon Mayfield, as mentioned, and/or Mike Skinner.

I don't understand why Jeremy still has a job with Evernham. As quick as Casey was let go, I would have thought Jeremy would have been history long ago.

Looks like Richard Childress pushed the first domino of the silly season. I wonder how many more are going to be falling soon.

It would have to be Mayfield. I would bet Hank Parker Jr or Casey Atwood have that ride nailed down.
