Silly Season...whos going where?

ok since Silly Season is now under way..thought id start a thread where we can predict whos going where?

07...Blaney staying?
2..no idea? Labonte?
6...Mark Martin stays?...McMurray leaves 42 early?
10...Casey Mears? Scott Wimmer?
15...Paul Menard (hope not) will Napa go with Waltrip? Labonte?
18...Labonte leaving?
42...for 07 or if McMurray leaves early
#?..Scott Wimmer..will he stay or go? whos the sponser?
45...sponser?
 
You might want to add the #21. Ricky Rudd has yet to announce his intentions for 2006. With all of the DNF's and poor finishes early I would have bet money that this was his last year. But his team has shown some respectability lately, a 2nd, a 13th, and a 7th his last 3 races might have him thinking of returning. He's said many times during interviews " as long as were competitive I'll be here".
 
i forgot about that.....i hope the 21 does pick it up and ricky comes back next year...Racing just wouldnt be the same without Ricky.

so..will he or wont he?
and if he doesnt...who drives the 21 next year? Jon Wood?
 
I think there was a point where Ricky did say that he'd be back. He was still a little indecisive earlier in the year, but then I think I read an interview at nascar.com where he said he'd be back.

Why not Menard in the 15? He's a good racer, no one will draft with him or work with him. He's like the black sheep DEI Busch guy. I like him.
 
i think menard still has to prove he can do something in busch first...maybe he can the 2nd half of the season...id like to see DEI pull a young up...all though they are doing that with Truex now...maybe they can get an already establiished driver for the 15 car.
 
I seriously doubt Ward will ever be in the 15 car............in fact I really don't think Ward will ever be in a Cup car that is worth more than a passing smirk in the world of big time teams. Don't get me wrong...............I really like Ward Burton. But his luck in the cup series has dealt him a fatal blow as far as drivers are concerned!! You can thank Bill Davis Racing for that.

That and the 0 car didn't help him out any. I really liked Ward. But Ward is getting older. Owners are not looking for older drivers. Younger drivers are all the rage. But Ward is staying pretty busy with his Wildlife Foundation.

Yup, I think Ward Burton is done with competitive cars, if he even gets another ride. I also tihnk wimmer is staying put, just probably w/o a sponser...
 
Mark Martin has said yes to another year behind the wheel for Jack Roush, and is willing to race the Nextel Cup tour another year, instead of retiring as planned in November. "Mark has agreed to drive for us again if Jamie McMurray is not available, and we don't expect Jamie to be," Roush said. "Mark said he would consider that if we thought the team was in jeopardy, and I do - to keep everybody in place and functioning. now the hot thing is that Marlin will drive the 0 car...and waltrip will be a teammate in the 00 Napa car.

Napa will be stupid to go with him...the only reason MW has as many fans as he does now is because he was driving a car out of Dale Earnhardt's stables....hell look at Truex Jr...sure he won the championship last year...but would a busch guy be able to get in the Winston by fans votes if they didnt drive out of Earnhardts garage? doubt it.

so long MW...continue your medicore career somewhere else.

cant believe it either, its not like he doesnt have enough drivers in his stables to fill that seat.
 
Obviously some of you have not been reading the reports. Yes it is true that Rousch has asked Martin to stay another year BUT Martin has also said in interviews that the most important thing is to maintian the cohesion of the #6 team and he wants to have someone step in that can do that and that person is McMurray (according to Martin). I can see Rousch's reason for asking Martin to stay, which is the same reason MArtin has talked about. I mean really, what quality driver are you going to get to come in for one year when he knows that will be it??

I say kudos to Rousch for getting McMurray and to Martin for wanting "what's best"for the team.
 
But Roush is a self cented man for asking Mark to drive for one more year, Mark has gave Roush many years of his life and MArk now wants to go do what he wants to. Jack should respect that.
 
Jack and Mark are more than good friends. I think it's cool for two friends to help each other out when needed. It's nice to be able to count on somebody.

and i would like to see mark come back next year

IF Roush wouldn't have asked mark first then people would be on hear say that Jack has no respect to ask mark first. Mark could have said NO. Just to friends helping each other out. Do we know if Jack will make more exceptions for Mark to be with his family more? I think both could afford extra time and or transportation needs.
 
Let's be honest - people are bitching because Roush runs Fords.

Roush isn't bitching.
He's won more races in Cup and Busch than anyone else lately.
And he's had more drivers in the top ten than any other team for the past few years.

And he doesn't wear a bowtie.
 
'Roush does this'. 'Roush does that.' Yada, yada, yada. The guy on top is always the idiot. :D

The fact is that every other team owner would like to achieve what Roush has.

Mark Martin will return next season, if he is keeping good has is right now...
