Got several inches of snow in a few hours.

Schools remained open and the roads were never treated (and they still haven't left to treat the roads

Several accidents (as in too many to count) I passed 3 accidents on my 3 mile, 40 minute drive to work.

County officials are blaming the weather saying they didn't see it coming (it was snowing at 6am and they had issued a storm warning prior to that). :rolleyes:

Which begs the question:
Why do I pay taxes?

Our roads are completely covered. I was driving, like 5 mph, and couldn't get my car to turn. I was driving down Western and trying to make a turn the car went straight for a quarter mile without me using the gas pedal.

I'm simply amazed at what I'm seeing from the County Government.

Sorry, haven't had a real winter in a while. Cold but the snow and ice are fairly uncommon.

Oh, and President Obama? He can take his family and their Chicago toughness back to Chicago if he's got a problem with it.

I can't.

Contract states I have to use it, in my case by March 8th, or it goes away. You don't get paid for it and it doesn't roll over.

In my case they're saying I can't use it, so they're basically expecting me to work for free.

The other trick they're pulling is furloughs.

I'm glad I've got a job but I am entitled to my vacation time and seeing as I haven't had a vacation in over 2 years and am in need of one, I would like to use it. The glass of my window of tolerance is shattered right now.

You're not going to get productive work from employees if they don't have any motivation or morale.

I work all year - including Christmas and Spring Break.

They give us fewer and fewer holidays each year. We've often joked that we won't get Christmas off the way it's going but I genuinely believe that we won't get Christmas off next year (or we'll be required to use vacation time for it, aka furlough).

You could looki at it this way...at least you have a job. Thousands don't.
 
When my wife was involuntarily retired last year she had almost 3 months of sick time banked. She'd lose it upon retirement. So working to their rules she'd take 2 days off "sick" then work a day, be out again 2 days "sick" etc. If out 3 days or more that required a docs excuse or no pay. Everyone knew what she was doing but nothing they could do about it. As it was she still gave the state close to 5 grand. Bitter, no. Not me.:sarcasm:

Once I get another job lined up, I'm sending in my letter of resignation.

And I'm hand delivering it that way they can't say "we never got it."

I can't wait until the day I can say "take this job and stick it up your rectal cavity." :cool:

This isn't the first time I've had issues with them giving me a hard time over vacation. I took one day off in September and they gave me a hard time about that convinently lost the papers. I haven't had a vacation in years.

This is nothing new -- just flat out pompous.

Um, we wouldn't have a problem if the governments knew how to manage a budget.

Instead of cutting back on the free healthcare and free college for criminals and illegal immigrants and the welfare to the crack dealer down the street and the other gd entitlements and handouts, they cut back on education and transportation and all of the important things. :mad:

And "the economy" ain't a reason to treat your employees like crap, sorry. :rolleyes:

If we're not allowed vacations or leave anymore, send out an email to the system and let us know that way I know not to plan on going to any more races or having a life outside of work. :)

That's sad and we also have to use our sick leave or we will lose it. I've accumulated over 2100 hours of sick leave and it will get used. If I have to have my knees redone, I'll have plenty of time, or for any other major surgery. But if I don't use it for surgery, there is one thing that many others have done and I will as well. Use it to take stress leave. You need a doctor to get an excuse, but when you are talking about the mind, it doesn't take much to get an excuse.

Andy, sorry to hear that you can't take that well deserved vacation, but it seems that the state of Maryland doesn't believe that you have earned it. If I could, I'd loan you a couple of my five weeks, but they won't let me do that. Darn, dadgum gubmint!

We have some nice weather forecasted for the weekend and through nexxt Wednesday.

We'll pay for it dearly on President's Day Weekend.

And if they say "The sun has come out, it's a beautiful afternoon" or "don't you wish you were here" during the Daytona 500 broadcast, I WILL throw a brick in to the TV.

April 4th is opening day for the oval at Old Dominion Speedway At Manassas.

I didn't know about the Hagerstown event, I've been checking their site weekly and hadn't yet seen a schedule. Friday, the 20th, is my 21st birthday and I was planning on being FUBAR but I might have to buy some Powershots so I can wake up and take the drive up Interstate 70.
