Okay,

who will end up in the 31? I hear a lot of jibber jabber about Jeff Burton moving over to it with his crew. I also have heard that it will put Blaney in the 30 (or will it be the 7 or 07) Jack Daniel's car. I don't know. Since Robby is gone, I almost don't care, but it will be one of the more interesting announcements seeing as how RCR is in some pretty dire straits as far as being successful this year goes. With Harvick as the flagship, will that leave Burton as #2? Or will the get equal footing? Can Blaney "git r done"? enough to make running the 30 car worth it? What do you all think?

Burton to the 31, Blaney to the 30 car and next year everyone gets to enjoy some fine whiskey in victory lane at Darlington.

I beleive Burton will stay in the 30 car or at least with the same team he is getting experience with. It would be good to see Blaney get a decent ride and stay there long enough for the team to get their heads together. Dave Blaney seems to have some talent for driving a race car. I think he could do at least as good as Robby Gordon if not better. IMO :D

I don't remember exactly what Childress said, but it's all depending on how the sponsorship goes. And it would basically be just a change of number so the Burton team would still be intact. However, Richard has said that this all is still a bit premature.

By the middle of next season, regardless wherever Jeff Burton goes, his team will be the flagship team at RCR. Ever since Burton joined RCR, he has outperformed both Robby and Kevin by a mile.

I think the 29 will stay the flag ship. Not because of Harvick but A lot of people still consider that is Dale's car. I belive that Richard does to. Now after 2005 Burton could be moved to the 29 and Harvick to the 30. I hope not but it could happen.

Burton will go to the 31 since it has a definite sponsor. RC should just drop the 30 team all together and concentrate on two cars.

I wouldn't be upset if he dropped both teams and just ran the 29.

Except it isn't. Remember Robbie and Kevin swapped places 2 years ago. Oh, excuse me they didn't swap places their cars and teams swapped places. So Robbie has really been driving what would have been Dale's cars.

For the 1000th time, wrong.

Absolutely correct and will continue to do so. If RC has any brains at all he will give Burton his best stuff. Frankly( and with apologies to my Harvick-ian buddies) Kevin has had ample time to prove to the entire circuit he was pretty much a flash in the pan and nothing more.

My opinion anyhow.

Agreed.

Jeff Burton average finish in last 10 races (10 races in the #30 car): 15th
Kevin Harvick average finish in last 10 races: 19th

No disrespect to Harvick, I think he is a good driver. But it seems after his rookie year when he was in cars that were built for Dale Sr, his performance hasn't been as good.

It's official: Robby won't return to RCR

WELCOME, N.C. (AP) -- Robby Gordon said Tuesday he will leave Richard Childress Racing at the end of the season with the intention of racing for his own Nextel Cup team in 2005.

RCR will name Gordon's replacement on Friday.

Richard Childress

"Now is the time for me to start my future as an owner at NASCAR's highest level," said Gordon, who was co-owner of a short-lived Cup team in 2000 with John Menard and Mike Held. Gordon then drove for several teams in 2001 before winding up with Childress and winning the season-ending race at New Hampshire. That victory earned Gordon a full-time ride with RCR.

Gordon, who has run a part-time Busch Series schedule this year with his own team, said he has been putting the pieces in place for a Cup team for most of 2004.

Robby Gordon

"We don't have anything to announce yet for next season," he said. "We hope to make some announcements soon."

Gordon and Childress both said the parting is amicable, although the owner put the former open-wheel racing star on probation after he started an accident at New Hampshire in September that seriously damaged the championship hopes of title contenders Tony Stewart and Jeremy Mayfield.

"He has won three points races, a qualifying race at Daytona and has had a lot of good runs for RCR since 2001, but sometimes change is good," Childress said. "Robby is a true racer and I will always be grateful to him for what we've been able to accomplish together and for the positive things he brought to our organization."

Going into Sunday's race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Gordon is 23rd in the season standings.

Is he going to get a RCR chassis to start off?
I don't know for sure, it would seem like he would start building his own immediately, RGM is pretty good with Chassis as far as I can tell. I think RobbyGFan mentioned something about the chassis he won at Sonoma with was one he built himself.

As a matter of fact, RCR "borrowed" from RGM's chassis specs from the #31 road course car, which Robby built in house at RGM, so RCR could make an exact replica for Kevin Harvick's team.

Dude, I love your avatar!

Well, ya have to consider 2003 and how good of a year he had then. When RCR gets on their A game, Kevin is dangerous on the track. Nothing but wins, knocking off 2nd place finishes in a row, top 5's, and top 10's. Right now, I think the biggest issue within RCR is the engines and aerodynamics. They suffered the same problem in 2002 with them not being able to figure out how to match the body and aerodynamics up. I say Kevin will regain that form he showed in 2003 and by watching the Martinsville race, it has already begun.

Well Slick, I hope for your sake, Harvicks, and Richard Childress you are right. If that is the case RCR should be better all around.

What about Ward getting in the 31 and out of the crappy 0 car. I like the number just not the equipment. We need good equipment.
