since the board was down, bristol attendance?!?!?

Spot on Skoal....I look at the painted seats and think...why don't Brian spend a couple million and put dummys of different colors in half the seats.this would fool a lot of people.....Most Chevy and Toy fans have wool pulled over their eyes and couldn't see the difference......if Nascar would play fair with Dodge, they would come back and fill the seats once more....but france has his lips on the bottle and his nuts in his hands instead...........BTW, I still have some wool removers and will sell it cheap because I like all you race fans..........

Great to hear from you, Wynn, and I hope you and the missus are well and you are still making music.

Everytime I go thru Hartsville I scan the parking lots to see if I might spot your Charger. Do you ever come to the car show on the square in Franklin, KY in the fall? I haven't been able make it the last few years....

How many people under 50 do you see driving the cars that NASCAR uses in Sprint Cup on the road?My son and his friends are into cars, just not what's on NASCAR now.You can't tell me the manufacturers can't find better performance oriented cars to race,If you watch the tv commercials you see what age demographics they are aiming for, it's sad.The only race we attend now is Darlington.I expect Brian France to hang in till tv money runs out, then sell out.

It appears the T.V. money isn't running out.......the stakes just keep going higher and the attendance and viewership keeps falling...... but..... the media keep upping the ante and extending the contracts.... evidently they know something about marketing and making money that I don't see...... I thought when the new contracts were let in '01 or '02 that the networks were totally crazy to bid that kind of money that it wouldn't last...... I was wrong...... they keep upping it and Brian is laughing all the way to the bank...... when all the while viewership is spiraling downward...... o_O

I'm not versed on the current TV contract but I can guarantee the next contract will be for less money. Nobody in their right mind would pay a ton of dough to air this failing product.

Wynn said a while back he sold the Charger as with his age and other interests it was time to pass it on. I sure miss Wynn as he is a heck of a great guy.

That's what I thought for many years... but...... the T.V. execs just keep upping it....... total idiots......

With regard to Nascar and the TV money it is like they could fall in a vat of manure and come out smelling like a rose as the worse Nascar performs in terms of on track product, demographic and overall viewership the more the networks want to pay. The prevailing thought was that both FOX and NBC sports would be able to get more money from both cable and satellite providers that wanted to carry those channels but I have looked and looked and can't see where that has happened. Based on what has happened in the past it would not surprise me to see Nascar sign lucrative extensions with both FOX and NBC.

The cars aren't as big as they were when less than forty started. They fit.

Back to attendance... Here's Pockrass reporting from the ISC earnings call:

"International Speedway Corp., on a conference call today with financial analysts, reported advance ticket sales for its upcoming races – Kansas, Talladega, Martinsville, Phoenix and Homestead – are down 10%, but it anticipates a sellout for the season finale at Homestead. Its ticket revenues are down 7% since for races from March through August, and it saw ticket revenue declines at September races at Darlington, Richmond and Chicagoland."

Back to attendance...

Ticket sales have become a secondary revenue stream.

According to Jayski Homestead used to seat 63K and then dropped to 56K and is now down to 46K. If Nascar can't sell 46,000 tickets for it's season finale something is really wrong.

It's the new math Skoal, PR is totally different today that when you were a hustler. :D
