Is this a new ammendment to the Constitution that I didn't hear about? People like that principle in TWN's thread get my dander up. And I'm not even sure what my dander is!

4X, you realize that this is a public forum where anyone including myself have the right to express their views?

If you feel offended, DO NOT REPLY, just suck it up.

My point exactly! Being offended goes hand-in-hand with living in a free society.

kat, what the heck are you on about?

Anyway 4x...I kind of agree with the principal in that a public school is not the place for it. If the student really felt strongly about it there are avenues for him to try to advocate change, city hall, the governor of his state, letters to his congressmen, organize a rally or a march...but a public school is not the place for it.

And the principal has every right in the world to tell his students what is and what is not tolerated on HIS property.

I don't disagree at all with his not allowing the shirt to be worn in school. Allowing shirts like that would open up a huge can of worms. The swasticka comment was got me a little bent.

The comment about the swasticka was a stretch...but so was this kid's shirt.

Obviously just an attempt from his parents to make headlines and get an interview on the Today show or whatever.

I'm not thinkin' my kid would make it out of the house with a shirt like that on whether I agree with it or not. Something like that doesn't really sway anybody's opinion it just hurts others and quite possibly opens the wearer of said shirt to attack, possibly physical.

Right on, if the kid wants to walk down the street with it on, fine.

But I think teachers have a hard enough job as it is, without having to put up with spoiled brats that feel like making USA Today.

Yes, everybody. Everybody who can conduct themselves as an adult at least.

If you miss beedie that much, try linking to www.thatsracin.com and participate in their forum. I know from personal experience that children are very welcome there, as well as those who choose to behave like children.

Happy posting. :)

Anyone who conduct themselves like well-mannered people are most certainly welcome.

As far as the kid in the T-shirt goes, the reason he wore was to get attention. It may have been negative attention, but at least someone paid attention to him. For a little while, he was the center of attention.

4xchamp, most kids nowdays don't have a parent at home when they leave for school. Mom and dad have already left for work, or they are too busy with their own stuff to worry what the kid is wearing.

Sad, but true:(

Attention seeking lil brat! How old was he/she? I find it hard to believe the kid even knew what it exactly meant, only that it was a very, very bad idea and would get attention, which like some have pointed out...parents aren't only just too busy or not there to see what their kids are wearing...but much anything else! When a kid makes a mistake in life...I think you need to right away look at the parent situation not jump on the kids back right away.
