Breaking news on NASCAR Now has Joey Logano out of the driver's seat of the #96 'Cup car for the rest of the season due to "lack of development".

Well he's gonna go in off the deep end next year in the 20. looks like we'll see Schrader in the 96 for the rest of this season.

Read between the lines. JGR thinks the 96 car isn't up to snuff, so they yanked Logano from the car.

When are they going to learn to stop throwing young kids in the cup cars?

I commented about the 'youth movement' in a previous posting. This isn't a bash about Jeff Gordon but remember when he came into cup? Being called the Boy Wonder or Blunder depending on how he finished? Trying to grow a moustache to appear older. He was a great source of amusement to Dale Sr.

Logano did ok on the 1/3-5/8 mile short tracks here. Big difference moving to cup with bigger tracks and much higher speeds. Generically I don't care if someones been racing since he was 6 and won a championship in go-karts.
There was a time a owner wouldn't put you in his car until you were in your late 20's or older and "paid your dues". Now you get a NASCAR license on your 18th birthday and are eligible to go 150+ and expected to win.

How many of the Gillette young guns really need to shave anyway???:growl:

Exactly what I was thinking. 96 has issues not related to Tony Raines, JJ Yeley, Joey Lagono, Brad Coleman or anyone else who has raced it. Its best for JGR to not let Joey get used to the car when its going nowhere fast.

SST55, you need to watch "Kyle's Corner" on nascar.com. He goes along with what you're saying.

Even our team director here won't let just anybody drive the cars. We've got a guy that runs dirt cars on the weekend and another with 6 years of shifter car experience- Dr. Woods won't let them near the cars (as with any of us). He says the exact same as SST55- just because you can wheel those, don't mean you can wheel our cars. At TMS, our OBD system recorded a 76 MPH average lap speed- under university law, he is not allowed to tell us the top speed if it exceeds 85 MPH. This included a series of 2.3 G combined maneuvers.

Like I said before put him in a underfunded team and he's just another driver, but I seriously doubt JGR did not help in the set-up of the 96

Wasn't it explained on one of the programs that the 96 was in fact a car that JGR had provided?
Why would the 96 team risk losing one of their cars driven by a inexperienced driver?
