Stewart donates to help injured Shih Tzu:

#14-Tony Stewart's charitable foundation has donated an undisclosed amount of money to pay surgery costs for an injured stray Shih Tzu dog. Around midnight on St. Patrick's Day, the three-year-old male was taken to the Humane Society for Hamilton County with a broken back, and he needed immediate surgery. Joni Thompson, executive director of the Indianapolis-based Tony Stewart Foundation, found out and told the driver, whose Shih Tzu, Buddy, died in 2007. The foundation made a gift to the Humane Society specifically covering the costs of the surgery and the dog's special "wheelchair" to make up for losing the use of his hind legs. Stewart's past philanthropic work earned him NASCAR Illustrated's "Person of the Year" honors last year.(Florida Today/AP)(3-22-2009)

Tony is always doing stuff like that and goes and ruins his bad boy imagine. :D

It's a DOG!!

Get over it! Another one can be had for 35 bucks or so! I have never understood why people pay so much money for an injured animal that can be replaced with a newer, younger one for for less money!!
Betsy:rolleyes:

And people can just have another kid if one gets injured too. Don't be such an a...... Betsy.

People is one thing

but dogs, cats, hamsters, snakes, lizards, parrots or any other animal that is around the house can be replaced with lots less effort than some of the absurdities I've been witness to. A wheel chair for a "found" dog? And it is I that should get a life?

The Shih Tzu that serves as my pillow (or uses me as one ... that's still unsettled) cost over $800, my dear. And frankly ... if I had the choice of spending the day with a stray mutt or a unfamiliar human ... I'd take the mutt, fleas, smell, and all. Hell, I'd take the stray mutt over 90% of the people I deal with on a daily basis.

I wasn't exactly sure how much they sell for, but I know it's quite a bit. Thanks for filling in the $$$. :)

Smoke DOES help a lot of people, children and adults. You're just more apt to read about him complaining about tires or another driver, that's all. ;)

At least he didn't win a race with the COT and come off the track and tell the media it was a piece of crap, unlike some "young 'hot' driver." LOL

I have never met a dog I didn't like. On the other hand.......

well, I will say this...... I for one have paid well over 1000 bucks in medical bills for my dog Loki.....not counting normal costs ie shots, etc..... a border collie/human....lol. He has a skin allergy, and it is an ongoin deal with meds, and you wouldn't belive the special food I buy for him..... sometimes I swear that dog eats better than I do. But, through out my sickness, the kidney transplant, and the recovery that dog never left my side. More than I can say for some people I know. So I gotta say, atta boy Tony...... Geeeze, did that really just come outta my mouth????lol

Some years ago, the wife and I paid nearly a grand to help our Lahsa Apso Bucky get well from Cushing's disease. In less than three months, we had to put him down. Would we do it again? Without a second thought.

In 1858, a man named John Gray was buried in old Greyfriars Churchyard. His grave levelled by the hand of time, and unmarked by any stone, became scarcely discernible; but, although no human interest seemed to attach to it.

The sacred spot was not wholly disregarded or forgotten. For fourteen years the dead man's faithful dog kept constant watch and guard over the grave until his own death in 1872.

The famous Skye Terrier, Greyfriars Bobby was so devoted to his master John Gray, even in death, for fourteen years Bobby lay on the grave only leaving for food.

It is reported that a daily occurance of people from all walks of life would stand at the entrance of the Kirkyard waiting for the one o'clock gun and the appearance of Bobby leaving the grave for his midday meal.

OK, that gave me a good ole lump in my throat.

And I spent $800 to help my beloved cat that had broken his leg jumping from the top of the freezer to my arms. He just missed and fell to the floor.
Betsy, obviously you have never loved anyone but yourself. I am

for you.

That's just what LOVE is for...

Humans! As you use the word "anyone", and not anything. I have six children and seven grandchildren.. I love them all. I also have many friends and relatives that I love.. That love is far different than the feelings I have for PETS.
Unlike you I am amazed at how some folks feel about animals. The special love I have is reserved for humans.. not their pets.
By the way. Over the years we have had snakes, lizards, turtles, spiders, centipedes, parrots and dogs in the house. At this time we have an African Gray named Buckwheat and a Jack Russel named Lacey.. If either needs a wheel chair...too bad! Unless Smoke wants to provide the money and also take care of them.
Betsy
