Kind of bitter sweet. I have worked for a Texas based Convenient store company for the past 16 years. I started out in the stores as a clerk and eventually moved up in the company as an IT Field Supervisor. For the past 16 years I was part of a growing company. When I started in '98 I believe we had less than 100 stores. Through the years our owner grew the company through building new stores and acquiring other companies. We grew from a small south Texas chain to a Chain of 600+ stores all through out Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. A few years ago the owner decided to go public. Great decision as it allowed the company to grow even more. Well this past year a Dallas based oil and gas transportation companie acquired us in a huge billion dollar deal. Their goal? Merge us with their other convenient store chain Sunoco. Their goal was to grow both companies from 2 regional chains to on big national chain. In doing so they have merged our convenient store brand, Stripes, with their fuel brand Sunoco. The new company would be called Sunoco LP.

I say bittersweet because the company I grew with is no more, but I am very excited to move on with this new larger stronger company. We are already starting to rebrand our fueling points at some of our Stripes stores to Sunoco, and we soon will have a new nation wide banner that hopefully will be on a corner near you.

I am sure this isn't interesting to most of you, but I thought it was cool that I now work for the Official Fuel of Nascar. They hang that banner high too, Sunoco is all about Nascar. Kevin Harvick was just at our trade show. Sadly I didn't get to go, but some friends of mine got his autograph for me, which is cool. Plus they bring in Dale Jr's show car often to our stores now. Should be a fun ride.

Maybe you can get Bobby Labonte some really good fuel for the D500 ;)

I see a hot pass in your future.

Very hard to get. You have to know someone who is connected.
Yep. I've also seen people break the rules and lose'em. If somebody loses one that way then they'll never get another one. They're red flagged in the computer. Several years ago an acquaintance didn't follow the rules, they took his, kicked him out of the track and he's still blackballed from getting another one. His "used to be" connection is still pissed at him also.

Why does that not surprise me? :owquitit:

Long story short. You don't persistently and rudely interrupt a top driver while he's talking to Mike Helton in the garage area to get autograph's. To get along try to be invisible. :)

LOLOLOLOLOLOL perfect. Thanks.

Awwwww He forgot to ask the big guy for an autograph.

I doubt very much that you were persistently rude though. :D Most of them are nice and friendly until their buttons are pushed. After all they are busy people.

I know. I couldn't resist. I'm always courteous when asking for pictures and autographs. Some you just have to let go. It isn't that hard to tell when it's a good time vs a bad time.

Congratulations Jeffrey00. Best of luck and I know you'll make the best of this transition with the new owners.

Two of our local racers are sonoco race fuel dealers. I'd never heard of stripes before, but Jason says that sonoco/stripes wants to do a commercial with him.
