Autoracing1.com, a racing site heavily promoting the ‘virtues’ of dying racing series’ Champ Car and the IRL while decidedly being anti-NASCAR had some choice words to say (or their source though one is not listed) regarding Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s talent level and the talent it takes to drive in NASCAR:
This is what is wrong with American racing. When a wanker of a driver can become the sport’s biggest hero, one can safely say that America won’t be producing another world driving champion anytime soon. So far America has produced only two world driving champions, Phil Hill and Mario Andretti, and there’s one thing for certain, the next world champion won’t be coming from a 100% throttle, no talent required, racing series anytime soon.

Wow..... The sad thing is some people don't realize how hard it is to drive stock cars.

Jr is not the best driver, but still they should not of said it like that.

Hmm Robby Gordon is an world driving champion, won races all over the world! :p

Montoya's struggles and how bad he waxed everyone in American open wheel should demonstrate how tough it is in nascar.
I don't think Jr is his daddy, but he isn't a talentless hack either. He has enough cup wins and a BUSCH championship to prove that.

If American Open Wheel, (which I do love btw), would get thier heads out of their collective asses they might attract some American talent. But If you are a young racer with a shot at a career, I think it is a no brainer to head to nascar right now, that's where it's at on this side of the pond.

I think IRL and INDY are a little more exciting, especially since the COT in NASCAR, but I don't think NASCAR takes any less talent. It's all racing to me. Most IRL and Indy fans look down on me when they find out that I like nascar as well. The ones I know are mostly dickheads anyway, real snobby personalities. I don't see how anyone who likes other types of auto racing, could not like nascar.

I don't care who you are, it takes a bit of talent to keep a 3400 lb car under control at 200mph. Add to that the fact that there are 42 other cars on the track, it takes even more skill.

Glad I ain't the only one thinking that...

I agree with you guys. I just posted the article because I don't agree with them. On that website it only gives you that much and you have to subscribe. I figure you have to pay to do that so I didn't even try.
