IRVING — Police say the death of a 2-year-old boy who was left in the back of his family's vehicle in a Dallas suburb appears to be a "tragic accident."

Investigators say the boy had inadvertently been left in a sport utility vehicle in Irving on Thursday after his family unloaded belongings from the vehicle in the driveway.

The family had just moved to Texas from California.

Police say the boy's mother had thought all nine of her children were inside their home when she closed the vehicle.

Later in the evening, the mother called police after she couldn't find her son. Officers found the boy in the back of the SUV.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is pending, but police believe his death is heat-related.

I agree Mike. How do you forget your kid? Maybe 9 was about 9 to many and someone should take the others from her.
If one of my children ever "forget" their baby and leave them in a vehicle, they don't have to worry about being charged by the law, although I'll have to worry about it after I beat them to death.

Sounds like they have too many kids to start with if they can't even keep track of them.

This is total BS. Don't care how much they are suffering from the loss. They need to be charged and made an example of. This happens way too often.

Ok. Well, I suppose I am the only person here who has this particular perspective on this situation as I am actually the youngest of 9 kids in my family. There were times when some pretty amazing things happened to different ones of us from at various times. We lived through them all though and most of us have become pretty protective parents as a result.

There is simply no excuse for this happening to this child. None. I'm sure the parents are simply crushed emotionally over this incident, but there still needs to be something done.
