Newman made his thoughts about his pit crew know the other night.
After the race last Saturday night, Newman was very clear what he thought about his pit crew and there performance. With that being said, there are a lot of things to keep in mind and we wanted to mention a few of them.
1st. There is an old saying, “Dance with the one you brought”. One bad stop doesn’t define you as a crew and shouldn’t. These guys have been part of the #39 team all year and should be now.
2nd. Neither the #14 or #10 made the Chase and both teams have very strong pit crews. There is no rule that says you can’t switch teams before a race or even in the middle of one. It will be very interesting to see what SHR decides to do.
3rd. Coach Joe Piette is a very stand up guy and an ex pit crew member for more than 15 years. He understands what Crewmen go through and realizes what his team is or is not capable of doing under this kind of pressure. No matter what happens, this will not be a one man decision.
4th. If the #39 crew stays with the team, and we all should assume they will for now, how will they react to the post race interview comments. Will they hold a grudge or will they get after if like nothing happened. Its hard to un-hear something.
There are a lot of decisions to be made over the next few days at SHR. Every team has had bad stops this year at some point and some just happen at a worse time than others. We stand by our statement that one stop doesn’t define you as a pit crew or pit crew member. Whatever happens this week will likely be involving many people at SHR and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
What do you think they'll do? Consolidate the crew using the best of the best?
I'm thinking that these guys are going to step up their game and they stick with what got them there.
This thread has absolutely nothing to do with him making or not making the Chase and the reasons why. Please take that talk here.
