WTH? Nothing special about tomorrow, so no reason the race couldn't be on Sunday. I hope everyone that can goes to the local track and the ratings tank.

I know that's where I'll be. Tonight is my first night as the track announcer and I am some kind of nervous :whoopee:.

Lower car count and fewer fans in the stands everytime there's a Saturday night race.
I'll bet a brazillion innerweb bucks NA$CAR will run the "support your local short track" commercial tonight.

Ain't that the truth. Many promotors are taking it in the shorts trying different ways to entice fans, but it hurts.

There really is no reason. Certainly the weather is not an issue. It is stupid for Nascar to hurt their local tracks and their T.V .coverage by doing this, but if it is stupid, you can bet that Nascar will give it a shot. I can't believe that Nascar was afraid to go against the Long Beach Grand Prix, which is also on Sunday. This year, the IRL cars are running. Ticket sales are up for this event, from what I understand. Maybe Nascar is afraid of Danica and company.

I DVR it anyways so it doesn't matter to me when they run.

BTW, our local tracks haven't started yet. I think they start Memorial day + or -

Isn't this Sunday evening the day the new summer series start on the TV? It might be as simple as that. Either run the race on Saturday night or it goes to Speed or ESPN 2..
Betsy:rolleyes:

I sometimes would take the radio headset and listen to certain races while being at the local dirt track. When the SLM's were ready to race, the radio went off.

Our local track is late in getting started this year.

Waterford opens tonight, Stafford in 2 weeks, Seekonk May 3
Thompson held the Icebreaker April 5. 154 laps of Modified racing, the top 5 cars were seperated by 0.998 of a second at the finish.

It's been a loooong winter.

Because people wanted to see more night races. Why do both Richmond races race on saturday night? Why is the summer bristol race on a saturday night? Because nascar wants prime time ratings.

That is where Nascar is making a huge mistake. They are not going to get ratings running on Saturday Nights. There is just too much to do.

The only good thing is that I can now get yard work done without missing practice or NW race. Now if it will just rain I can read a book instead:growl:

Thank God Potomac runs on Friday Nights. :whoopee:

A LOT of people from around here are going to the WoO Late Model Series race at VMS-Saluda. And I'm at Rockingham.

**** NASCAR and **** Brian France.

You guys are too much! NASCAR fans can complain about absolutely everything. I love Saturday night racing! Bring on more IMO. We've got around 15 people coming to our NASCAR party tonight. Like someone else said if you have a problem with it being on a Saturday night, record it and watch it later. :beerbang:

Did you party last night for the Busch er I mean the Nationwide race? Here on the east coast, where the sport got it's start, and btw is the headquarters of the sport and where the new HOF is located, last night's race started at 9:45. I turned off the TV after 11:00 and went to bed. If you're a twenty something, that late night stuff is what the world is made of, but for those of us who have passed the age of 50, it's a bit late. Brian wants new fans, and I guess it's the west coasters and the younin's that he wants. As for me and my family, we'll watch NASCAR on the TV when we can, but if our local track is open, we'll be there. On a side note, lately, we can see our local races and then come home and watch the national races almost in their entirety...if we care to.

It's been said a gazillion times before and will continue to be said that NASCAR has one of the most loyal fan bases in sports, and if you change the start times for a race, the ratings will go down. Brian, check out your ratings and try to understand why.

Check the schedule. After Talledega next week, there's 2 or 3 Saturday night races on the schedule if I recall correctly. Why I don't know. I guess they want to show off their lights at tracks who have them?
This 50-something will stay up and watch, but I have nothing else to do and I'm a night owl anyway, unless I've missed a lot of sleep during the preceding few days. I actually watched last night, but I was falling asleep after pretty soon. I was tired out from a long week. Think I've got caught up enough to make it through tonight. ;)

My husband will go to bed and forget about it. Me, I watch NASCAR whenever I can. :idunno: I'd just be watching some kind of reruns of something else if it wasn't on. Guess I need more of a life? LOL Although with it running tonight, I can go to dinner at my daughter and son-in-law's tomorrow and not have to worry about missing anything or making them all watch the race. :)

No, no party last night. I'm almost 50. I can't do two nights in a row any more. LOL I also live on the east coast & watched a little of last nights race and went to bed but we are ready to party tonight. Hope to see Mark Martin win it this year.

If you are looking for a real late night, SPEED will be broadcasting the F1 Chinese Grand Prix from Shanghai LIVE at 2:30am EDT ;)

I like night races (NASCAR or Indy) but often fall asleep watching them

The PGA,NHL,and NBA Playoffs on all at 2 P.M. sunday.Nascar to afraid of tanking in the ratings to go up against all that compitition.

That's what recorders are for. ;)

I don't think so. Phoenix has been a night race for years, once they gave it a spring date.

NASCAR crushes everything in every demo on every coast when it's on... except when the almighty American-owning empire NFL is on.
