Was just having a look through some pic of what they call stockcars down here.
They look like something out of Mad Max. Armored and ready for battle.
They race in teams and take the opponents out alot. Looks as if anything goes.

Notice a bunch of pics of the Rotorua Rascals team with Confederate flags everywhere! Lol

Bunch of Rednecks

Looks like something that would catch on up here. I think it would put a lot of younger people in the stands.
Do you know how they determine who or which team wins the race?

Heres the 2013 rule book...(online )....scroll down to 45 for stockcars.
Its still about winning and finishing but pretty much anything goes.

Damn, bumper cars on steroids. Some of those must weigh 10 tons.

If Dale Earnhardt would have had one of those bumpers......

They used to have the races on the old speed channel, amazing what kind of punishment they could take and still be going. Strategy racing, runners and blockers

Sounds like Roller Derby. I was looking at the Code of Ethics and realized it is team racing and contact seems to be part of the deal.

Form the Code of Ethics:
Teams Racing is unique. It is furious "Full On Contact" racing,
extremely exciting and the most competitive form of Stockcar
racing in NZ. All competitors must act in an honest and
sportsmanlike manner and obey the rules. Teams racing has many
added responsibilities "To Get It Right" not only for the competitors
but team managers, crews, officials and promoters.

It reminded me of roller derby too. Rules and all are very similar except they are doing it in cars.

Yeah, I'd pay to watch this. New Zealand has all the fun.

Funny thing is I haven't been since I was a kid as I like to see the midgets and sprints but I was thinking I may take the missus with me to a race sometime soon.
They race locally ....less than half an hour away at Waikaraka Park

Thanks for the link to the rules, I really appreciate that. I'd like to see this in person, I bet it's quite a show. Nascar could use something like this for those times when drivers have a "difference of opinion". Something like a grudge race for the fans. Thanks for starting this thread, it's new to me and quite interesting.
