My dad used to say "some people have the dumbest kids" a lot when I was younger. It was usually right after I did something really stupid. I have a greater understanding for how he felt today than I did then. My son called me a little bit ago and said he got a ticket for doing 85 mph in a 60 mph zone.

I was really happy for him and proud of him a week or so ago when he went to homecoming. He really seems to be growing up and becoming a good man slowly buy surely. I guess today was just a step backwords.

My son's freshman (or sophomore) year of college, we had the truck to pick up a bunch of his stuff. He had his car so drove back. Wehen we stopped for lunch, before we got back on the road we told him "don't you get a ticket!"

Yup, sure as hell a few miles up the freeway there he was, pulled over by a cop. Learned when we all got home that he was doing 81 in a 65 zone.

I'm older and wiser now but when I was his age 85mph was the speed I was at by the end of the onramp of the freeway (then it went to 120+). Of course my Dad AND Mom set the example for me by racing people all the time from stoplights and on the freeway. One of my Dad's proudest moments was in his 1965 BelAir with a built small block and stock gears. I was riding with him on the freeway when we came up upon a Ferrari (the Magnum P.I. style). My Dad teases him a little bit with a few romps on the throttle. So the Ferrari takes the bait and floors it. My Dad floors it too and within seconds the Ferrari is way behind us and the speedometer of the BelAir is bouncing off of pegged, so we didn't really know how fast we were going. My Dad slowed to 110mph and let the Ferrari catch us and pass us, then floored it again and we reeled him in quick and passed him again. That was fun.

You know of course the Ferrari 308's where botom line Ferrari's with only 240 hp. I always laugh when I see one talk about poser's.

I'm not all that worried about those examples as none of those people will ever be driving a vehicle that I am responsible for.
