Yes, she won..she was also deaf. I believe she had to "sign" the answer and supposedly, the answer didn't come out right.
 
Actually, Miss America 1994 was not deaf and came from SC. Her name is
Kimberly Aiken.

The first deaf Miss America was Heather Whitestone in 1995.
