More on the #48 infraction: A respected source in the garage area reports NASCAR officials had a little help discovering the ingenious manner of cheating which lead to the ejection of Chad Knauss from the remainder of the Daytona activities. To add salt to the wound inflicted on the #48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team, this source reports the finger pointing that led officials to the infraction came from within the Chevrolet camp.(CircleTrackPlus)(2-16-2006)

He shoulda been ratted out. Its not the first time that has happened either.

Why would exposing a cheat be considered ratting out? If I'm a racer that follows the rules then I want those that are cheating punished. Makes no difference who they are.

I agree. Being a University of Tennessee fan, Alabama fans are mad at us because our coach turned them in and got them on probation. Instead of being mad their school cheated, they turn their anger to the people that turn them in. I don't get it.

Makes you wonder who did spill the beans.

If you're going to bait, at least get the story right. A booster put money in front of a recruit to get him to come to Alabama. The school had nothing to do with it. The University got punished for what a booster did.

Kinda like what happened with Tee Martin at Tennessee. And like NASCAR, the NCCA picks and chooses who gets hammered and who gets a slap on the wrist.

Schools are responsible for what their boosters do. Pretty cut and dry.

Heard a guy on a local radio program that works for a NASCAR team say it was RCR that ratted out the 48.

Not quite. A booster is more or less just an overblown rich FAN that throws money around. How can a college control the Financial misconducts of its fans...
