espn was no better, hiring hosts that knew nothing about racing
ESPN didn't try to turn it in to a block party.
That's what I hate the most about SPEED. Nothing to them is serious, they're not serious about NASCAR coverage. Every single NASCAR show is a block party where the hosts and panelists on the show YELL and SCREAM AT you! It's extremely obnoxious... I quit watching RaceDay and Trackside years ago. I'm not saying, don't have fun or don't have any personality, but the volume at SPEED is beyond annoying.
Then there's their Truck Series coverage. Rick Allen talks at a normal tone, then when someone passes someone, he does like everyone else and SCREAMS at you. Phil Parsons, nice guy, but he adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast. And when Michael Waltrip is around, it's all about him (just like Kenny Wallace when he's jumping around like a jackrussellterrier on the air).
Very little of their coverage is focused on the racing, it's usually focused on the SPEED personalities (Larry Mac, Hammond, DW, Krista Voda). They spend so much time talking about themselves during any given broadcast, it's annoying.
And then there's the part where they have a serious lack of motorsports coverage. No short track racing, very little ARCA, K&N Pro Series one hour a week on a terrible timeslot, etc.
The only things SPEED does right are Grand-Am and F1.
