Why am I watching this bad joke express known as the Awards Ceremony?

This is the worst Awards Ceremony I've ever watched, mainly because SPEED runs the show now.

I knew it would become unwatchable when SPEED took over... NASCAR will never get back to the basics with them in the picture.

Nothing was worth Steve Byrnes doing his Frank Caliendo doing his John Madden Impression

*sigh* so not only is it tape delayed, is miserably produced AND tape delayed.

Hey Andy, so we can do apples to rotten apples, which is worse

ESPN broadcasting NHRA

SPEED broadcasting whatever this is.

SPEED broadcasting anything is worse than ESPN's NHRA coverage. I don't know why ESPN doesn't stick Lewis Bloom in the booth -- he may be boring but he's capable and he's forgotten more than a lot of people will ever know.

I switched to Comedy Central during my technical difficulties

Frank Caliendo looked like he was sitting in the bar 5 minutes before this and someone said hey can you come do this show for like 10 minutes.

I miss when they had Jay Mohr doing the comedy he was good.

This "comedian" sucks, just like everything else tonight.

If it was soooo bad Andy, why did you continue to watch?

I could have told you all that it was pointless to watch. Thank God for Netflix....I didn't have to see a single minute (nor was I even curious) of it.

Why do any of you waste your time watching the awards banquet, we already know who won.....lol?!!

I watch it every year knowing exactly what to expect so I'm never disappointed. I'm really not sure what most people expect from the NASCAR Awards Banquet. The results are already known. The speeches are predictable. The comedian seldom goes over well with the NASCAR crowd. IMO it's just a chance to see these drivers out of their environment and that's about it. I have a hard time criticizing it as I don't have a clue how to make it any better. It doesn't seem to me that you'd have much to work with.

All of that being said..... When I saw Eva, Kurt Busch's wife, and Kurt on the red carpet last night..... All I kept thinking was that she looked like she could kick his a$$. She looks like one tough lady. :D

espn was no better, hiring hosts that knew nothing about racing

ESPN didn't try to turn it in to a block party.

That's what I hate the most about SPEED. Nothing to them is serious, they're not serious about NASCAR coverage. Every single NASCAR show is a block party where the hosts and panelists on the show YELL and SCREAM AT you! It's extremely obnoxious... I quit watching RaceDay and Trackside years ago. I'm not saying, don't have fun or don't have any personality, but the volume at SPEED is beyond annoying.

Then there's their Truck Series coverage. Rick Allen talks at a normal tone, then when someone passes someone, he does like everyone else and SCREAMS at you. Phil Parsons, nice guy, but he adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast. And when Michael Waltrip is around, it's all about him (just like Kenny Wallace when he's jumping around like a jackrussellterrier on the air).

Very little of their coverage is focused on the racing, it's usually focused on the SPEED personalities (Larry Mac, Hammond, DW, Krista Voda). They spend so much time talking about themselves during any given broadcast, it's annoying.

And then there's the part where they have a serious lack of motorsports coverage. No short track racing, very little ARCA, K&N Pro Series one hour a week on a terrible timeslot, etc.

The only things SPEED does right are Grand-Am and F1.

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion that's why.
But I haven't watched it in several years.

I ended up turning it off. This train wreck just got brutal after a while.

I thought it was a NASCAR Awards Banquet, not the County Music Awards.

The media people said it's boring in person, but it was worse on television, absolutely brutal.
