Sorensen to GEM Link

No word on driver number or sponsor. No word on Carpentier, either. I know Sabates didn't mince words when her said that Sorensen was "as good as he's going to get." I find it hard to believe that a 22 year old would be that washed up. Does Ganassi really think its all that and a bag of chips? I personally think its a lateral move, maybe a small step up. My question is will this move make GEM a stronger organization? Dodge really needs a leader as a manufacturer.

Sorenson has shown some promise. One has to wonder if Ganassi/Sabates was holding him back. With Kahne and Sadler to help he could really blossom into a driver.

Wasn't GEM talking about adding a 4th car? If that's the case, Captentier might not be going anywhere.

Personally I think it is Ganassi who is washed up. He expects superior performance out of sub-par equipement and when he does not get it he blames the drivers.

I think Ganassi and Penske both need to put more into thier cup program versus other series if they want to see results.

I like what Kyle Petty said on Tradin' Paint a few weeks ago. He said Reed has gone as far as he's going to go with Ganassi, that a change of location might do him some good. Not sure if he was downing Reed or Ganassi.

My opinion is Ganassi is a dead end team right now. If Reed is going to be anything in Cup, he needs to go somewhere else to prove it. Not sure if GEM is the right spot for that, but it's got to be better than Ganassi.

Agreed. What Montoya's done over there is stupid considering he's an open wheel driver with a subpar team. Sorenson's a really good driver, liked him since his rookie year of ASA (he drove car #29:D).

Not dissing Ganassi, but their money's in open wheel where they're dominating. IndyCar Series is a sinking ship, and Ganassi's not on the lifeboat. I think NASCAR is just a hobby for him, just a way to bring in money to funnel over to his IRL teams.

I've always agreed on this. They both spend too much money in open wheel, ALMS, and other road racing teams, when cup gets the most TV time. HEck, penske doesnt even have a sponsor for the IRL teams.

Yes he does. Marlboro is still solidly behind behind Penski and paying a lot of the bills. Problem is you don't see it on TV because of the laws that prohibit tobacco advertising on TV.

I hate to say it being a Ganassi fan in IRL, but this will turn out better for Sorenson. Ganassis nascar program just sucks. Montoya would be doing much better in a car that could compete.

He should have added Sorensen was "as good as he's going to get in this piece of crap we call a car"

I don't think Ganassi/Sabates has improved at all since Ganassi bought the majority of the team. Felix's drivers did this well before Chip came along.

Reed might be much better with another team.

The last years they were competitive was 2001 & 2002. Other than a couple of top 5 end of year runs with Kyle Petty and one with Sterling Marlin, what have they ever done? Ganassi bought into Sabates with the idea to be the best. They by far are not. If it wasn't for Target, they would probably be gone by now. I just hope that GEM can get more consistent with their engine program for all the teams it supplies. I'm sure the cars will come around, but without the proper horsepower, they too will be consistent 20-25 place team. I for one wish that Reed will do much better, capitalizing on the promise he has shown and not turn into another Casey Atwood.
