I think I saw a thread a while back on the movie Soul Surfer, but my computer was giving me grief about loading pages while trying to check the archives.

Any way, I watched Soul Surfer last night. It was really good. I sort of expected it to be a little more hollywood than it was. They didn't sugar coat a lot of stuff like I expected them to. Just about any time a movie is 'based on a true story' I tend to find it more interesting. Unfortunately, in movies like The Blind Side they often change so many things in the movie that it seems obviously made up and forced.

Carrie Underwood was really pretty good, even though her part was pretty small. Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid(sp?) were pretty good too. But, the girl who played the main character was really, really good.

I've had that on my Netflix queue for weeks and it's always been labeled "very long wait". Finally it has been shipped and I'll get it Monday. I heard an interview on NPR with one of the actors, not Quaid, I think it was Kevin Sorbo and I found that the interview made me curious about the movie. There is a radio commercial for the Foundation for a Better Life about Bethany. As for the accuracy, I don't know how true to life it is but I've heard it's pretty close. I do understand that movies based on real life incidents must be made to keep the audience interesting for a couple of hours or less. If the movie is based on a book, it's even harder.
