I read somewhere his share of that $1,000,000 was $60,000.

well after taxes and spliting it with his team and all of that stuff I would not doubt it one bit but that does seem kinda cheap

I'm guessing Junior Johnson took a nice share of that cash.

wait a second, did Bill drive for Junior when he won the million? Or was he still in the Melling Coors car? Where's HS?

1985, was most assuredly in the Coors Thunderbird for Harry Melling......

On the other hand I have no clue how much of the money Bill got.

Speaking of the Coors Thunderbird...the car lot where I bought my truck just got an actual Coors Thunderbird driven by Bill Elliot in at least one race for his showroom. It is extremely cool to really get a chance to check one of those things out in person.

It seems i remember Bill getting close to $200,000 after taxes, splitting with the crew and all that. He was in deed driving the Coors #9 and was dominant that year , if i remember correctly he won 11 races , but lost the championship! I bought my first Thunderbird Turbo-Coupe in 1986, brand new, influenced by the success of my favorite driver in the #9. That was 17 years ago and he is still my favorite....GO BILL!

Bill says he took home $75,000. From his website:

http://www.billelliott.com/about/history3.html

Bill claims he didn't exactly strike it rich, though. "The team got a substantial amount, so it was pretty broken up. I probably ended up with like $75,000, and back then I was paying for all the facilities in Dawsonville."

I thought it was interesting too when DW said the most he had ever won was $250K for a race - '85(?).

The $250 large that DW was refering to was how much he won for the championship. I believe Tony got over $4.5 mil.
