SPEED signs Randy Pemberton, expands Sadler’s role: SPEED has added veteran NASCAR reporter Randy Pemberton to its stable of experts supporting multiple SPEED programs for the remainder of the season. Pemberton, who already has appeared on the popular Tradin’ Paint, will take an expanded role beginning in mid-August in Michigan, working on NASCAR Live!, Go or Go Home and occasional SPEED qualifying and practice sessions. In addition to adding Pemberton, SPEED also will elevate the role of NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler, who has driven the SPEED 1 demonstration car for the popular SPEED pre-race show NASCAR RaceDay. Sadler also will report for NASCAR Live! and Go or Go Home.(SPEEDtv.com)

I have a question. Is SPEED at "extra cost" station or will we be getting it when we upgrade to digital cable next week?

Awesome!! It's Time Warner, if that makes any difference. I was thinking it was probably included in the digital package. We just hated paying TW more, but they gave us an offer we couldn't refuse. :)

Used to be i got Speed for free in CO., but when i moved back here to Ma. , Comcast has it on their digital tier. I don't want all the other channels with that tier and think it should be on the basic tier along with the ESPNS and NESN.

I think so too. We have comcast also. I was looking last night on the computer and it would cost like $30.00 more a month to get digital cable and the only other channel I want is speed. Not worth it.

TimeWarner cable is the most expensive source of television you can get.
Once you get past the promotional offers, the annual cost of TWC is considerably more than either DISH or DIRECT TV.

Time Warner Cable offers Digipak 1000, the least expensive package in Raleigh including SPEED Channel, advertised at $64.95 w/o promotional gimmickery and not including extra charge for DVR and remote.
We had been a twenty year TWC customer until this past Tuesday as we moved but could still access TWC. We felt it seemed as if Time Warner always has annual increases versus our previous experience with DISH satellite.

The least expensive DISH NETWORK promotional package with Speed Channel costs $46.99 with local channels included in price.

DIRECT TV promotional package with SPEED Channel costs $49.99 for four months then goes to $54.99 and includes local stations.

Either satellite service has special features, but the two main features versus cable are, cost and clarity. Even with high definition from TWC, the standard picture from satellite is sharper, more color differential and clearer. Satellite reception in standard format is better than cable with high definition.

I throughly researched all three before deciding on DISH. We wound up with DIRECT TV as DISH satellite was blocked by trees. The beauty part of DIRECT TV, the inclusion of music channels from XM satellite, two of which are old style country from pre-1980's and back into the fifties. We keep it on constantly. No commercials and good old fashioned country music. None of the noise they call country today however todays style country is available.

Sheesh! We have Comcast digital for 2 TVs and it's $76 a month. Great movies, BBC America, all kinds of sports channels, National Geograhic and so much more. Well worth the price if you ask Mr Kat and me.

Whizzer, my parents get their cable from ATMC. That's the phone company @ Ocean Isle. They have the equivalent of Digipic4000HD. Basically they have all the movie channels, digital tier and the HD programming. Their monthly fee for 2 HD boxes is ~$90. Guess where ATMC gets their programming...TWC. I wish someone could explain how a reseller can sell the product for less than buying directly from TWC. I'm getting ripped off, that's what.

My nephew has Direct. He has over 250 channels and his is just under $50. I am going to go that rout I think.

I considered many times going to Dish Network, but what's always held me back is having to get all 3 TVs connected and the extra expense for the other 2. If I have to do that, it brings it up around what we pay for cable or more. We're paying $61 w/tax and they're only going to charge us .25 more "for life" to upgrade to digital. Plus they're giving us all of Showtime and Movies On Demand free for one year. The only thing is, I have to remember to cancel those next year or we'll start getting charged. Considering they're talking about having to provide some kind of techno gadget in a few years for people who don't get digital (according some legal stuff I've read) I guess it's about time to upgrade as long as it's only a quarter more. Considering all tech/electronic merchandise, etc., has decreased in priced, these providers and the phone companies have us all by the proverbial balls.
