Speed TV To Increase Final Coverage
Speed Channel says it will increase coverage of the 2005 NASCAR season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the week prior to the races with on- and off-track programming from South Florida as well as a live, four-hour prerace package Nov. 20 before the Ford 500 Nextel Cup race. "Under the old points system, the championship was often realistically decided long before the season ended, leaving Homestead with an anticlimactic event," Speed Vice President Chic Long said. "Now, South Florida is virtually assured of being the home of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series championship every season, and Speed Channel has every intention of giving the event and the city coverage commensurate with the elevated status of a major national sports championship." The network says it plans 20 hours of programming from South Florida, up from last year's 14 hours. A complete schedule of coverage leading up to the season finale is available at (SpeedTV.com)...(Scene Daily)
