Some talk about speeds and qualifying records around.

Who was the first WC driver to post an official qualifying lap at over 200 MPH, when, and where.

Close beakts,

Buddy Baker was the first to post a 200 MPH plus lap and it was at Talledega in 1970 during a test session. It was however not an official qualifying lap.

The driver who holds this distinction won 1 WC championship in his career. He didn't do it in race winning style either.

Also remember that after 1972 the big blocks were gone. So the year is much later than you think.

Okay, a new one. Two parts.

Who is the all time NASCAR leader of consecutive years with a pole.

Four drivers are tied for the most consecutive years with a pole in the "Modern Era", name them.

Hints: The driver in the first part is not in the second part, but he is within one year of being tied with those four drivers as well.

I'll give it a shot.

Part one, Lee Petty.

Part two, I'll try Earnhardt, King Richard, Bill Elliott, and Ricky Rudd.

In part one the driver's NASCAR career began in 1960. It is not a Petty

In part two, Bill Elliott is one. The record in modern era is 12 consecutive years with a pole. Three others did it.

Part 2. Cale Yarbrough, Darrell All-lip, and Bobby Allison?

Too young to know part 1 I guess.

Nah, you're not too young to know the first part, everybody's heard of him.

Cale and Darrell are correct along with Bill, only one left. The one that's left is still driving well!!

for part number 1 when did he retire??

part 2
mark martin rusty wallace um lol give another clue about that last person on the second part

For the first part: 20 consecutive years with a pole 1963 - 1982

For the second part: 12 consecutive years with a pole 1988 - 1999

Cale, Darrell, Bill and not Rusty. Many folks mentioned the answer in the driver of the decade thread.

Not Buddy. The answer is oftimes considered among the top drivers of all time, in the same breath as Richard and Dale.

Mark Martin it is!

So the modern era is 12 years for Cale, Darrell, Bill, and Mark.

The all time record is 20. Richard Petty is second all time at 18. The four drivers with 12 are next, followed by Bobby Allsion with 11. Buck Baker had 10, Geoff Bodine 9.

Now who had 20 consecutive years, when the answer comes out you'll think "of course!!"
