Guess it all depends if your for the majority or not. Would you like to say under buda america is a place of many cultures I can see how a athiast or budist could get upset if there kid herd everyone else in there class say under god every day.

I voted Don't Know

something else kids can pick on other kids for, make some people stick more out and look more diffrent.

Yeah I'm the one who voted no :)

The angle I'm taking is this: I don't like the thought that my son should be forced into anything religiously. Regardless of how big or small it is. I realize I'm probably in a very small minority this time :)

Just Imagine if you were born in this country and raised to beleive god is not true and something else is. But everyday you go to school 90% of your classmates are standing up saying under god. complicated subject anyway TAFM

Our country was founded for FREEDOM. No matter what one's Faith, Race, Color, Creed or Country of origin, Our Constitution gives us Unalienable Rights. Separation of Church and State is one of those rights.
Yes, I believe in God, but others worship Allah, Budah, the sun, themselves or nothing at all. They have Rights too!

A moment of silence in schools is fine with me, Under God on my $$ doesn't bother me in the least..after all it still pays the bills.

GOD BLESS AMERICA, MY HOME SWEET HOME

i wish the christain school i went to did not have to close because it did not have any more money.

at my school i can name mo wicia (sp) then i can ppl go to the say type of church as i do ,baptist (sp)

It's a no win subject......it's politically correct to be inclusive and everyone wants to be included. The pledge with the words "under God" should not offend anyone except maybe atheists. Allah, Buddha, etc are all gods for the respective religions in this world. Why the words would offend is totally beyond me........however, since this country was founded on Judao, Christian beliefs, a portion of our population seems to think they are being excluded by having those two words in our pledge. I say, they are included by the words "under God"........perhaps the "g" being capitalized that makes them unhappy?

Not a particularly good thread so I'm done with it.

Hard to say, we have a very diverse nation to be trying to wave under the banner of one single god. The majority seems to need to hold onto God in and institution that hardly represents it.

I personally have very open views on "under god" and religion. I have a very diverse group of friends, and i respect their beliefs as they respect mine. I personally don't need "under God" to be put in public institutions or on my dollar bills to remind me what I believe in.

well now. i believe that everybody has a right to their own beliefs. this country was founded on GOD and biblical beliefs. separation of state and church means ONLY, that the gov't has no right to create a single religion or impose specific beliefs. that is THE reason why they came here. freedom to worship as they please. to make sure the gov't did not impose a single religion like back home. NOW, if we keep on letting these liberals pull crap like they have,ex. Ben Franklin wrote a letter using the phrase separation of church and state, he never even signed the declaration of independence. anyhow, they took the little phrase and twisted it to mean what the fathers of this country didnt mean. they did not mean to keep GOD or faith out of schools, they meant the gov't, state or any other body could not enforce a specific RELIGION. Ok, now as we have seen, the more we let these others come into our country and deteriorate our high standard, basing our standards on GOD, not religion, the more this country is going to hell in a handbasket. in case nobody else has noticed, this is the only country that has not been plagued or famined, etc. the reason is is because the pilgrims dedicated their trip here to GODs glory and built this country on GODly principles.
hope this makes some sense, i know i jumped around a bit.
If we keep taking GOD out of everything, this place will be a mess. there will be no final common referance point for any laws or behaviors. then we will be in deep...

GOD bless you all, and I would die to protect your right to disagree.
We would just have a lengthy discussion if I didnt die, when i came back;)

Oh, by the way. if you want to learn some good history in a litlle book, look up FREEDOM TIDE
good stufff

Lets see, 24 votes and I'm the only "NO".

I guess this is where I claim to follow the beat of a different drummer :D

Only country ??? I would love to see documentation on that one.

Its supose to be our countrys pledge, representing the entire country. Rather you like it or not every resident does not beleive in god.

I bet everyone of those people that voted yes beleive in god.

Its all about the majority.

I know that, Im talking about current things not when the country was first started. Thanx for the link though

Smack, that's why I voted "Don't Know".
We should ALL think of ourselves as honored to be citizens of this incredible country where we can freely express our viewpoints.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!, THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!

it doesnt matter if people believe in GOD or not, that is what our country is founded on and prospered on. it is the concrete of making this nation work. people do not need to participate in the things they dont want to and they can believe what they want. but dont try to change what has made this country the greatest country in the world. or soon enough, it wont be.

I thought we just went over that under god was added to the pledge in 1954 if my memory servs me right our country wasn't born that day.

i was refering to your statement about I bet the people that voted yes believe in GOD. Again, if you take GOD out of the american basics and have no foundation for common ground (Bible) then there will be total chaos
:satisfied
