Spoiler change on the way?

Lopping off some of the spoiler coming? #2-Rusty Wallace says that NASCAR's John Darby will cut half an inch or so off the rear spoiler "within the next six weeks." That timetable would point toward an aerodynamics change at either the fast two-mile California track April 27 or the 3/4-mile Richmond track the following week.(Winston Salem Journal)(3-19-2003)

What do you think of that idea? Will it help the racing or will it make the cars too hard to drive like the 5&5 rule a few years back and hurt the racing?

I know it will make the cars a little bit harder to drive bc they won't have as much downforce but i think it will put the racing into the drivers hand more and could be a good thing to do. I just hope they cut the same amount off of every make!!

I would like to to see them work away from the aero situation we have had for a few years, but just trimming the spoiler will probably cause more problems than it solves. If ya notice there seems to be a lot more talk of loose now than tight, this would just get way looser.

Few years back if you recall they tried the 5 and 5 rule and the drivers had conniptions and the racing was no better with tires allegedly softer than those run now.

It has taken about 7 or 8 years of unceasiningly hard work by the teams and NASCAR to get where they are now, would not surprise me to see it take that long to reverse it if they choose to go that way. Not sure all of the teams would even help........

Change the tire compound, go to a softer tire that wears quicker ....mimick the way the tires wear at Rockingham and Darlington then there will be better racing .
