FONTANA, Calif. -- Three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Jack Sprague suffered a broken heel on his left foot and is expected to sit out most of practice and qualifying for Friday night's race at California Speedway, team officials confirmed.
Sprague fell while performing at-home maintenance at his Charlotte-area home on Wednesday. His left foot has been placed in a secured boot and he will make a follow-up doctor visit after this weekend's race.
Sprague is planning to run a few practice laps Thursday, then allow former Truck champion Mike Bliss to practice and qualify the No. 16 Chevrolet.
Sprague hopes to at least start Friday night's American Racing Wheels 200 (9 p.m. Eastern, Speed), but his plans are subject to change based on comfort level, team officials said.
