Someone else can go ahead and create that race thread on Sunday. I was just trying to create a thread to talk about the upcoming race.

Race #32 of 36; Chase for the Sprint Cup race #6 of 10.

Top 10 heading into this race.
  1. Brad Keselowski 2214
  2. Jimmie Johnson 2207
  3. Denny Hamlin 2199
  4. Clint Bowyer 2186
  5. Kasey Kahne 2179
  6. Greg Biffle 2171
  7. Martin Truex Jr. 2165
  8. Tony Stewart 2164
  9. Jeff Gordon 2164
  10. Kevin Harvick 2158
Five of these races left. I think just about anything can happen. Too much can happen over the next five. I still think that Bowyer and Kahne still have a chance.

Due to the repave they are all hitting the track tomorrow, Wednesday, to get in testing. I don't know if any of that is being televised.

This weeks entry list.

Notes: Teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will run the same tire set-up at Kansas this weekend . . . this is the first race for NASCAR teams on the re-surfaced Kansas track . . . Goodyear held a tire test at the speedway on August 28-29 . . . teams and drivers participating in that test were the No. 2 Penske Racing Dodge with Brad Keselowski, No. 9 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford with Marcos Ambrose, No. 17 Roush Fenway Ford with Matt Kenseth, No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota with Joey Logano, No. 27 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet with Paul Menard, No. 42 Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing Chevrolet with Juan Pablo Montoya, No. 55 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota with Mark Martin, No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet with Regan Smith and No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet with Dale Earnhardt Jr. . . . the tire set-up that Goodyear came out of that test with was the same combination of left- and right-side tires that Sprint Cup teams ran at recently re-paved Michigan in August . . . compared to what was run on Kansas' old surface this spring, this tire set-up features compound and construction changes on both sides of the car . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tires at Kansas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

I'm real excited about how fast the 2 car has been on both 1.5's so far. With Chad and Grubb's lucky call last week to keep the 11 and 48 in the hunt, performance on 1.5's will be the key. It was shocking to watch those 2 teams bail out with so much racing left at Charolette, but it will make these last 5 real exciting. We could see the points lead change hands a couple times before this is over.

I am wishing for dumb mistakes to bring the top 3 back to the field over these next three races to tighten things up for the final two. I'm not a fan of two of those top 3.

Brad fall back to the rest? Good God man, that would be too much for me to bear. ;)

Have you looked at my secret formula poll lately? I am within 15 points for 4 of the 6 drivers, and I just slapped that together and posted it for fun.

lol But it is true. One yellow flag in that 120 lap run would have hurt them. A yellow flag with 30 or less to go would have hurt even worse. A GWC would have put them both close to being out of the title hunt.

I think this weekend, it's going to be a battle between Johnson and Brad, dunno if Hamlin is going to be a factor. Def. still waiting for Kyle Busch's annual melt-down and watch him do something stupid.

It was in a crash during the aforementioned tire test that JOONYER suffered his first concussion.
He said that the impact was recorded at 40 g's - twice the severity of his impact at Wreckadega!

Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series teams will get additional track time at Kansas Speedway this week to test setups following the track repaving. Sprint Cup teams will test 2:00-6:00pm/et on Wednesday and 9:30am-12:30pm/et on Thursday. Nationwide teams will test Thursday 2:00-6:00pm/et.

Chevy can mathematically clinch its 10th consecutive NSCS Manufacturers' Championship (and 36th overall) on Sunday in Kansas. If Chevy leads the manufacturer standings by 25 points leaving the race, it will clinch. Chevy currently holds a 24-point lead over Toyota. Finishing ahead of Toyota will guarantee the title.

I think Kansas is going to be another fuel race. And if it is I'm going to scream. To bad you guys won't be able to hear me. It's a damn good scream.

How does the manufacturers title work? Do they add up points from every car in the field?

This weekend's race is going to be thrilling, I can't wait! Trading paint, bending fenders.

I am, of course, talking about the Martinsville LMSC race.

they were testing current cup cars and they also had the 2013's out there too, it was pretty neat

Jayski had a report that Penske (and others) tested 2013 cars. Anyone know if Penske tested Fords or Dodges? I assume Fords, and I don't know why Dodge would ask to have testing on a car no one will use. I'm just looking for confirmation.
