Someone else can go ahead and create that race thread on Sunday. I was just trying to create a thread to talk about the upcoming race.

Race #35 of 36; Chase for the Sprint Cup race #9 of 10.

Top 10 heading into this race.

1 Jimmie Johnson 2339
2 Brad Keselowski 2332 -7
3 Clint Bowyer 2303 -36
4 Kasey Kahne 2281 -58
5 Jeff Gordon 2267 -72
6 Matt Kenseth 2267 -72
7 Denny Hamlin 2266 -73
8 Tony Stewart 2259 -80
9 Martin Truex, Jr. 2259 -80
10 Greg Biffle 2256 -83

I'm looking for a BK victory over Johnson this weekend. A couple short weeks ago Keselowski and others were @ Phoenix for tire testing. Johnson was not. I really hope that this puts Keselowski ahead of the competition, (Johnson), for this race.

Johnson will win 3 in a row this week. He's just too strong.
I wish these other teams would get off their collective butts and put an end to this. This includes my driver/team combo as well. I am tired as heck of seeing this guy at the top of the charts week after week. The #48 is a fantastic driver/crew combo but they need to be bested at some point. Unless it's my team being the dynasty I don't like it.

Not Cup but Phoenix related.

Flashback.....

1995 Skoal Bandit Copper World Classic - Home of the first points paying Truck race won by Mike Skinner collecting $15,750 in prize money. He was driving for RCR. Ron Hornaday Jr., driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc., sat on the pole for that race and finished 9th. Margin of Victory: .09 sec

If interested, you can watch that race here. It is broken into 7 parts.

BK needs to out point JJ at Phoenix to control his destiny. Going to Homestead minus 7 would mean that he could win there and still loose the the championship.

Phoenix was the playground for California-based drivers before the reconfiguration.
Now, it's not such a sure thing.

I fully expect Jimmie/Chad to continue their efforts at PHX.
However, I expect Jeff Gordon to pull out the win.
(Both California-based drivers, BTW)

Getting ready for the weekend.
Been representin' my drivers all week long. As you may or may not be able to see in the picture, it's been sprinkling off and on here in Phoenix. We weren't expecting any until tomorrow....
and, yet, here it is.
It's not supposed to affect this weekends races, though.

Can't wait.:beerbang:

That is a great personalized plate for the Cardinal's Busch stadium. :beerbang:

Just opinion but I get the feeling JJ and Chad are sandbagging. They are so so in qualifying and practice and will most likley be the same in final practice. On Sunday I give it 50 laps or less and that 48 will be leading.
I hope I'm wrong.

Is Stephen Wallace in the 31 car this weekend?
incidents: #31-Burton slapped the turn 3 wall (again) midway thru practice, the team is looking over the car, most damage seems to be of the backend of the car. The team brought out the primary car, which wrecked in Friday practice, as it was damaged less then the backup car.

You're refering to this I take it. It will probably be the first time a car has been sent to the rear for bringing out a primary car:D

Looking at Practice times. JJ needs to find something, and Brads new car vs JJ's used car, is like night and day.

Poor JJ. He never gets good stuff. ;)

Considering how slick the racing has been, this could be a crap shoot.
