It's still the Busch Clash in mine. That's back when the men were men and the fans & drivers knew what the race format was.

Seriously though..... Is all of this 'race format selected by the fan' really necessary? I guess I'm just a little wore out on the whole idea these days. Just line these guys up already and race to the checkered! That's what the heck we want to see!

Not a bad idea to get the fans involved a bit...it's just an exhibition race.

I'll go with DP's suggestion, just chunk-em on the damned track and let-em race for 75 laps. Remember who counts or don't count your votes.

The Sprint Unlimited fan vote is NOT mandatory so if you want to vote, vote and if don't, than don't :)

And if you want to piss in a snowbank while singing Sweet Adeline then do it, but if you don't want to do it then don't.

It seems quite ironic how NASCAR can make all these rule changes about the cars and change all these driver numbers yet they can't even decide on a format. All I got to say is :owquitit:

Seriously? LMAO.. Im not sure whether to just laugh or shake my head.... they're doing it for the fans... not because they can't decide on the format... unlike what seems to be the consensus in here the fans (including myself) actually like having an input on this kind of stuff.

Why did this turn into a complaining thread? lol... If u guys aren't interested in the fan vote then the only reason for you to even come here is to complain... or the way I see it.. whine

..... if u don't want to... that doesn't mean you have to go watch someone else do it....... lol ;)

#1 In my opinion they are doing it to satisfy the so called social media bunch more than anything else.

#2 Slice you are a true gem, as much as you whine and bitch you want others to be nice and compliant, aint gonna happen and if no one was able to "Voice Their Opinion" you would be here alone. How much fun would that be?

That depends on how attractive she is.

Generally, when the fans vote on things, they screw it up.
YEP. Besides as I said before, the ones counting the votes are the ones that will probably set it the way they want it anyway.

I get the feeling many here weren't singing this tune when Danica and Jr. won the All-Star Race fan vote.
That was for the All-Star race, wasn't it? The need to eliminate the fan vote for that as well.

I'm pretty sure the only way that you get into the Unlimited is by winning a pole or a few other obscure rules.

Nothing wrong with fan involvement in sports , but it can go overboard sometimes. Fans don't need to have a say in every single aspect of a sport. You'll get the "no fans, no sport" argument, but the vast majority of the fans will probably still watch/attend even if the sanctioning body is pulling most of the strings.

It's a non-points race in which Nascar sets the parameters, allowing fans to vote on a list of options. I personally have no intention of voting but will definitely be watching.

Right, it's supposed to be a reward for winning a race or winning a pole. All the fans are doing are voting on a few rules to make it more interesting - I don't see how they can possibly "screw it up." How does deciding between 10, 15, or 20 laps for the final segment screw up the race? Or how they determine the starting order for the first and third segments?

I think you're quoting the wrong person here as far as your 'screw it up' quote but my thoughts are simply that we don't need all the gimmicks associated with the race. That's just my opinion. I like to watch the racing. Inverting fields, segment lengths, fan votes deciding which outfit the Sprint Girl gets to wear don't mean a lot to me but the racing does. I look forward to this race just like all the others, I simply find the voting part of it kinda silly. Kudos to those that do find it entertaining. I guess there's a little bit of something in there for all of us.

That was just in general, not directly towards you. I should have been more clear.
