At long last, the news we've been waiting for. Lucasfilm officially announced the cast for Episode VII. Several members of the cast of the original trilogy are returning, they are: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. They will be joined by new stars: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.
Director JJ Abrams told StarWars.com,
"We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."
The announcement was made on StarWars.com with the above photo of the cast, along with Abrams and Producer Kathleen Kennedy at what appears to be a script read through.
On behalf of the entire team here at The SWU I would like to say welcome to the family to the new stars, and to the returning stars: welcome home!

JJ grabbing actors from lord of the rings & Harry Potter. Not bad. It's not even may the 4th yet :0

New Star Wars movies for a new generation. So, what order do you show kids the first six movies in?
My last 2 girlfriends I've shown them 4 5 6 then 1 2 3. There's an air of mystery when you watch the movies the way they appeared in theaters. It happened by accident but it was a genius move, obviously.

I agree. Watching the first three movies first completely ruins The Empire Strikes Back which was easily the best movie in the series.

I think the best order to watch the movies is: A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi.

Leaves the end for the end. I'll have to try this out one rainy day :D

Dont know any of the new cast at all. Or by name anyway.

Wow. Sounds kind of terrible.

Thank you me, for posting that.

Hey, Mark was only a TV face when he was cast. Harrison was only known for playing in American Graffiti and Carrie was just the daughter of a singer and actress couple. Nobody gave it a chance except for 1 rep at FOX, which saved the whole investment.

Give it a chance. :(
