Start and Park concept destroying the sports potential for competition.

I know its been debated before endlessly but I'm frankly so tired of it my love of the sport is diminishing.

There are like 5 drivers with a CHANCE to win every week. This is not what I'd call competition. NASCAR needs to ween out the guys that can't finish over the 30th position for drivers that actually are talented.

You could put Terry or Bobby Lebonte in Hendrick cars and they still wouldn't be good enough to finish a race. I hate to compare NASCAR to professional wrestling but damn, Terry has got to be the Ric Flair of freaking NASCAR. Its time to hang up the racing gloves and call it a day.

Nobody gives a damn about him anymore, and hes hogging a spot that an up and comer could use to make the sport more popular. NASCAR should be focused on young fans and they aren't, they keep around the old farts that nobody cares about. Only exception to this is Mark Martin.

Better yet, once you're old and crappy stick to Nationwide series. The young guys would essentially have to learn to race the old veterans before getting the chance to move up to the Sprint cup series. Keeping these old talentless drivers in Sprint cup series is pathetic, boring, and detrimental to the sport. Its time for NASCAR execs to wake up and get with the program. I've only done short track racing and would put my life savings that I would lap any of those park and start has beens.

You're hallucinating.

If the competition was so much better, they would be bumping the old farts out of their rides. You have 43 spots, and there are 43 cars on the entry list for Fontana. How exactly is anyone being held back again?

Yes because it worked so well with Brad Teague this weekend.

Ok, I am calling it right now. This is a troll thread. First off he has "48" in his name. That is enough to troll this place right there. Then he is a new forum member, but starts his first post with this:

So new here, but knows that we have gone rounds with this topic. Then he ends with this:

Troll much??

I'm bettin there is at least one more.

Yeah I like the last line "life savings". If you had any idea of the economics why you run a past champion (with a provisional) in a slow ass car instead of a punk kid, who after wrecking your "life savings" in practice before the big show walks back to their car with an Ol' Well, see ya. You might get the concept, but probably not.

Well its always nice to see a post from someone who eloquently supports their argument in a mature way :)

But anyway, in response; When youre an older driver and racing has been your whole life, and you have teams offering you rides, its not exactly easy to just say "No thats okay, Im just gonna go ahead and not get paid to do what I love to do".

Although when it comes to legit start and parks, yeah it would be nice if there was a way to cut back on that. Theres usually about 3 or 4 cars that park it every race. Nationwide series cut their field down to 40, maybe Cup should start there as well.

The Start and Parks used to piss me off. I have come to the conclusion that they hurt no one but the Billionaire owners of NASCAR.

Thefore, I'd like to see 60 car fields with the first 35 cars start and parking.

^^
but they have to park on the track. And there can be no cautions. So its like an obstacle course.

Some young people or people who haven't watched many races in their lives, and don't know the history of racing in general..not just nascar, always think they have a quick solution to whatever problem irritates them. The same thing happens in every level of racing and will do so as long as there are two cars left to race on the face of the earth. Someone is going to win and the other is going to loose. They think mistakenly that putting another driver in an underfunded car is somehow going to make it better? Oh yeah, lets reduce the field..less cars will fix it, that will make it a better show because it just tweaks my butt to see those folks start and park. Hmmm so what now..make them run a minimum of what, thirty laps in the back of the pack?, 40 at minimum speed? would that do it? How about a time limit on those freakin overpaid loafin a$$ Golfers. They have too many of em running around with a club in their hand, they never win, and they look stupid with their outdated black and white shoes...and..., and their caddies..don't get me started on their cheesy caddies. Farther back they are, the faster they need to hit the freakin ball so they can get back to watching the leaders. time limits, that is what golf needs. Oh man I feel much better now lyinRyan48 I'll keep watching nascar even though it is "destroyed"

The 43 drivers on track are the best of the best , from differing racing venues across the Nation . When you put the best 43 atheletes of any sport together , they can't all be number one . Watching the dynamics change year to year makes it interesting . Casey Mears ,by the way, had a top 15 this week and ran real well.

No, he's right; it has been debated before endlessly, and I too am so tired of it that my love of the sport of debating is also diminishing.

Huh? That's not what he meant? Darn; that's the only way I could make any sense of it. Must be me again.

yeah, I hear ya Ted, I was bored and having a little fun. The new car has helped the underfunded teams. They can bolt on the sheet metal instead of having to make it all, injection will probably save a ton after the initial cost. We are already starting to see some of the underfunded teams being more competitive on other tracks beside the plate races. Good move Nascar. The tire winers hopefully saw that tires DID make a difference at Bristol anyway. Kurt Bush kept giving me a heart attack, seems like he got 40 tires for that race and raced his way back from a lap down twice. Not a good idea to pick both Bush's in the fantasy picks, but it did make watching the race interesting.

My dilema this weekend was choosing between Truex Jr and Dale Jr . I couldn't start them both , Truex qualified 9th and had a good practice Junior 32nd and didn't show much speed . I mulled it over for a long time and then it hit me . Steve LaTarte is the best crew chief in the garage ,if Junior doesn't wreck to racecar , Steve will get it to the front . In the end , they both finished well .:D

1-Then go away and quit boring us.
2- Not a very nice thing to say about our veteran drivers.
3- Your sure are full of sh, er ah yourself and unless you have been a driver in the cup series all of those drivers not only 5th down but 20th to 43rd would surely smoke your ass, especially at Bristol or martinsville.

I'm sure I can go to Charlotte next week and with a little training from some pros set a new track record.
Ok maybe I would be 80 mph slower (or more) but I would be damn close.

That's because those driving schools are still using COTs. I'm positive you could make up the difference if you could just get in a Gen6 car. :D Denny says they're the Z's knees.
