Hey guys,

What do ya'll think is the best way for a teenager like myself to get into racing. I have little money, and no experience, but I've never lost a go-kart race at the amusement park and believe I've got some natural talent. So what do you think, Karting, Legends?

Where do you live?

go-karts and racing are two diff. ball games.

If you have a go-kart track near you it would be a good start, but karting can add up in the pocket book. I started in an 4cly mini stock class. (car) But no matter what racing you get in, its going to cost money.

St. Petersburg Florida, the closet track is Desoto Speedway, in Bradenton.

Florida's a tough state to really distinguish yourself as a talent.

Talk to local companies, small businesses. See if you can talk them into sponsoring you. You might as well get a job or two as well.

Do you know any racers?

Go to the local speedway. Talk to some of the older drivers, see if you can get advice from them. Hell, they might even give you a ride if you're lucky.

If you were in Virginia or Maryland, I could help ya. ;)

Youth is your friend. Keep us up to speed. :)

Thanks for your advice and kindness,
I'm really gonna focus on it during the summer, for now I'm trying to save some money up and just get educated, thanks again

Why would you say Florida's a tough state to distinguish yourself? What would be an ideal state? --I thought that Florida had one of the best, state-wide local short track racing sanctioning bodies in FASCAR, and then the next level, Hooters Cup, with their biggest race is in Lakeland.

Just so you know, I'm thinking of asphalt racing, ofcourse If an opportunity arose in dirt, I would jump for it, but I have no experience in a dirt environment, and I haven't even been to many dirt races.

If you were up here, I could help you out. I have some decent connections around here.
