The (supposedly) best young hot shoes since Jeff Gordon, have washed out of cup after 2 or 3 seasons, or did not show the potential they exhibited in other series (Logano & others). IN MY OPINION- its too early for him in a full time cup car with a top tier team. He needs a little more seasoning. I know FB, salt, pepper garlic?

I expect him to wreck a lot of cars his first year, just like JG did. He'll probably win a race his first season, and then take off. IMO, he'll develop into a champion very quickly.

I think it's too soon. Just look at his Nationwide career, he was almost on the verge of them giving up on him until he turned it around. That being said I think he's a good driver but I think he would do better running a limited schedule in 2013 and then running a full season in 2014.

It's gonna be one of the fun stories to follow in 2013. That is, if the world doesn't end in December lol

The best news I heard about Stenhouse moving up was that they were going to put Bayne in the full time NNS ride. Good for him.

As for Stenhouse, I think he will have a very good career. Maybe one that will mirror a Kahne or Hamlin.

I think 2013 is the right time to move up. But predicting his future success in Cup is a crap shoot. Some materialize or mature as expected, some don't.

What will be fun is watching Ricky and Brad race each other hard. Those 2 know how to rub and shove without wrecking each other or losing control of their emotions.

Come on guy's n gal's I wanted more rage, confrontation and screaming about a hot topic like this.

As long as he isn't jumping back and fourth between series and only has Cup.to.focus on I think he'll do pretty good. Over half his starts in Nationwide have resulted in top 10 finishes. (87 starts/45 Top 10's. 5 wins) He had a rough start in Nationwide so I think he'll learn from that and be a bit more conservative in his approach to Cup.

I don't think that it is too early to get him started . I hope he develops thick skin because his career will be more like Logano's . He will do well , likely win two races in the first three years . That would be an above average pace , but not likely enough to endear him to the fans . Look for him to become a good race car driver around age 30.

lol Nice try. :p

I'm serious , we expect way too much from these kids . Look at the names of the drivers in the top fifteen and tell me how he intends to beat them . Hell , he won't be able to beat his teammates ,and he will be using their set ups . Best he can hope for is a rain shortened race or a fuel mileage deal.

He beat Carl in NW on a regular basis. He was so fast, Carl and his spotter worked together to help Carl learn what line he was running and how he was running it. A bunch of guys were rushed before they really showed anything in nascar, but I don't think Ricky is one of them. When a driver like Stewart recognizes Rickys talent, you know there's something to it.

You know , you look a lot like Elton John with those rose colored glasses on .

Actually , I was giving him the two wins based on Jimmy Fennig being his crew chief , but I'm not so sure that he won't retire again.

Fennig - the only crew chief in Nascar who can handle Kurt Busch - will be probably lead Stenhouse to a couple victories.

After Roush set him out for wecking too many cars, Stenhouse got his stuff together and, IMO, is ready for the big time and will do just fine. He can count me as a fan:)

Me too. I was really hoping Penske could get him. Brad is impressed with Stenhouse, so I was surprised they never tried to talk to Ricky.

Stenhouse is a very good driver and a very fast learner , he'll do very well in Cup as long as he's paired with the right crew chief . Tony Stewart played a big role in bringing Ricky up through the ranks , i always thought Tony would bring him on board at SHR sooner or later . Maybe he will down the road .
