Steve Addington Leaves Penske

He is the only person who actually made me feel sorry for Kurt Busch.

To put both cars into the chase when there were no other Dodges in the field to draw info from was an incredible feat . To do it with Kurt screaming in your headphones ...priceless.

I think Addington has proven he isn't a championship CC. I remember the improperly installed hine joint, wrapper left on the air filter along with a busted transmission and constant failed adjustments on the car. If he didn't have Paul Wolfe to lean on this year, things would have been even worse.

Does Steve still have the same car chief he had at Gibbs?

Whatsa hine joint?

Never did quite understand the air filter wrapper being left on the filter:confused:

Transmission busted that was just a freak thing.

Constant failed adjustments on the car? Well when you get crappy info from your driver you wind up making crappy decission's.

Are you serious, or just being the spelling police?

Just thought there was a new part out I was'nt aware of? If not I'm guessing your talking about a Heim Joint

Unless it's improperly mounted and the shaft isn't balanced properly.

If it was improperly mounted or balanced there would have been a vibration issue. It just Flat out Broke.

Kyle had the same complaint. Nuff said.

I don't listen to much Kyle says

He's had to work with both Busch brothers. That's enough to mess up anyone no matter how good you are.

I'll bet the house that Addington never wins a Cup championship. He isn't good enough, but he acts very satisfied with his performances. I will be shocked if SHR hires him for Tonys car.

I'm going to hold off and see how he does with another driver before I condemn him to being sub par. I think he did a great job with both Busch brothers but you have to admit neither one of those guys would be easy to work with. Probably no bigger Busch fan (Kyle and Kurt) on this site than me but both are hot headed, both blame others for their mistakes, both have a tendency to give up if their car isn't to their liking instead of trying to get the most points they can out of what they have, and both have been known to implode and take themselves out of races.

Just to be clear, I don't think he is subpar. It takes a special CC to build the team and step it up to win a Cup, and I don't think Steve has it. Although he loses his head, Kyle is known as a driver who gives excellent info to his CC.

Steve helped get Kyle 8 wins his first year at Gibbs, but really failed during the chase.

People tend to forget that he was also the crew chief for Bobby Labonte (who left the team before his contract was up) and JJ Yeley (who was blamed for the poor performance of the team) as well before The Busch Brothers. I don't think that Addington is nothing more than a C level crew chief and that Kyle Busch made him look good. That being said, if SHR takes him, good luck is all I have to say.

I hope Tony doesn't hire him, he does suck.(unless it's for Danicas car, then that's ok)

I fixed it so it could be read now.

I thought it was 'hyme joint'. Maybe I was thinking of something else. ;)

Among all aspects of Kyles reputation, giving excellent feedback is one that is mentioned quite often. I'm surprised it surprises you.

An improperly mounted transmission may or may not produce a noticable vibration as it strains the spline shaft and bearing. If an improperly mounted balance weight flys off at high revs, the only vibration you will feel is the one tearing up the box.

It's hard to blame the CC for a mechanical failure. Sometimes, stuff just breaks. It's not hard to blame Kurt for breaking his CC, however. I was actually quite surprised when Addington signed on to work with Kurt after dealing with Kyle. We see where that "double indemnity" led him...

I was just messin with you on the spelling relax ;) glad you did'nt spell it hymen then I'd really been confused :D

Although it's been reported several times as a Transmission failure I was told the driveshaft fractured near the front yoke and took out the transmission. Thats why I was saying it was most likely a parts failure.

As for Kyle what he says kinda go's in one ear and out the other, he's a hellova driver but his whining reminds me of my x wife.

You were withholding information so you could look smart? ;)

This king of stuff happens to Addington way too much. It's an indication he doesn't run a tight ship. IF the car chief is missing potential problems, it's Steves job to hire someone better. Same goes for the entire crew.

Hmmm, maybe one of the reason's Addington left was because of the restraints imposed on him limiting what he had control of?
I hope he lands some where with a little less pressure and gets back to enjoying doing what he does well.

Yeah, Penske gave Paul Wolfe so much more control over the program, which explains why the new guy trounced the former champ. :sarcasm:

But Steve deserves better than Kurt. I hope he finds his place in the sun.
