Steve Park Released From Truck Ride
Orleans Racing announced today that driver Steve Park was released from the No. 62 Orleans Dodge, effective immediately. Orleans Racing was prompted by its indecision regarding their 2006 program and rather than keep Park from exploring other available options the decision was made to free Park from his obligations with the team for the remainder of the year. In his two years with Orleans Racing Park has competed with ferocity and his top-10 finish in series points in 2004 and victory in February of this year at California Speedway are certainly highlights of the storied career the Long Island, NY native developed with Orleans Racing. “Steve’s a great competitor and with so many terrific rides available we wanted to let him explore his options for 2006 before the end of the season,” said car owner, Michael Gaughan. “Our time together as a race team was validated earlier this year when Steve was able to drive into victory lane, which created a memory that will last all of us a lifetime. We are proud to be part of Steve being able to claim victories in each of NASCAR’s top-three series.”

Will that be the end of his career in NASCAR? What a shame. He is such a great guy. Started with so much promise. Damn!

He never really was the same after the head injury.

talk about a driver with such bad luck....who would have ever thought a steering wheel pin would nearly kill a guy..best to luck with steve and wherever he goes from here.

I think Steve will be able to find another ride in the truck series. He has showed people that he can still drive. He did win a race for Orleans. He may not get back in the Cup series, but I think a lot of the drivers who have been in the cup and go back to the trucks enjoy the lack of stress. Personally I think the Truck Series has the best racing anyway.

Wasn't that Bendan Gougn's ride before he went to the #77? Does return to it?

I wonder if steve'll end up in the drive for diversity program as a person "with a new lease on life"?

but he'll probably end up in another middle class ride.
