UPDATE 2: Steve Park will be driving the Marsh Racing # 31 Chevy sponsored by Whelen Engineering in 10 select races during the 2006 season. "It is like a family member coming back home" said Phil Kurze, Whelen's Director of Motorsports. Kurze went on to say that "The kickoff race will be Las Vegas and we will probably be racing in both Richmond events, Darlington, New Hampshire, both Dover races, the October race at Lowe's and finish the season with Texas and Homestead. If Steve is able to secure a Craftsman Truck ride we will make some adjustments to our schedule to accommodate his obligations."(Whelen Racing)(2-3-2006)

One thing for sure, there will be more cautions in at least 10 Busch races this year.

Why are you so negative? Is your glass ALWAYS more than half empty?

I wish Steve the VERY BEST!

I wish him the best, also. I just don't think he's well enough to be in a race car after his last bump on the head.
I would not feel safe on a race track if he were out there, too.
In 1999 Park finished 14th in points, in 2000 he finished 11th in points, in 2001 he suffered a severe Ernie Ervin type head injury. In 2002 he finished 33rd in points, in 2003 he finished 32nd with only 3 top 10s and was released from DEI to join Childress whom also later released him.
I was at California Speedway when he ran Newman into the fence on the 1st lap.
At least Ernie knew when to call it quits.

I used to race professional motocross and supercross with the likes of Jeff Ward, Johnny O'Mara, Mark Barnett, etc. When I got my 6th concussion (fracturing a cervical vertebrae at the same time) I realized it was best to end my career.
In fact, I'm home from work right now, recovering from reconstructive knee surgery that I had yesterday. My 3rd knee surgery. I knew when to quit but I'm still dealing with my racing career, years later.

I'm just suggesting Steve oughta take a lesson from 'ol Ernie Ervin and pack it in.

My glass is full to the rim.

A motocross and supercross rider !!!! Whatta sport !!!! And folks think NASCAR is tough !!!!!
My son raced motocross several years and after two concussions, two broken ankles, one broken leg and too many other injuries that no longer come to mind as it has been twenty or more years ago, he too, is now paying the price for his motocross racing days. Butwhatta sport !!! My wife and I both love to watch either one.
In my book, motocross and supercross, are two of the most physically demanding and mentally challenging sports than any other stick or ball sport. Period !!!

Well, all the best of luck to Park. Hope he does well this year.
