Steve Park

After watching the truck race last night i can't help wondering if Park put himself in some situations he shouldn't have been in. I know they blacked flagged the 08 twice, but it seems to me he was maybe pressing a little too much. If he continues this way i'm afraid he is going to be out of a ride. I know we have kind beaten this subject up, but as much as i like the guy i think he really should go back to short track racing or get out of the sport.Your opinions on this?

WATCH OUT parkfan is blowup on this post :p, but very good post IMO that's exactly the way I feel.

So sorry that Park ran great last night and you can't blame him for wrecking like you hoped you would be able to. I'm glad that Park was out there racing as hard as he could and he did nothing wrong except trusting that Reutiman could run threewide without wrecking him.

Sorry ParkFan, but I have to agree with the other opinion.

Don't get me wrong as I LOVE Steve, but that wreck took so much away from him that I wonder if he will really be able to race in any cup series competatively again.

I also wonder about Jerry Nadeau's future.

Sorry but anyone who would try to place blame on Steve for being wrecked last night cannot honestly claim to like him.

Personally I didn't see Park do anything wrong last night. The wreck that took him out of the race was totally not his fault. You don't hit the outside wall of the straightaway without some help. wrong place wrong time.

I certainly don't blame Steve in any way, just wonder about his reaction time.

Bow you are 100% correct...I saw it happen!

Well you did say you agreed with the other opinions which did try to place blame where there wasn't any.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant the wreck when Steve was so terribly injured, not last night. I phrased my response incorrectly.

I just hope Steve can continue forward with his career. He is a great guy and hopefully will prove himself enough to move on up.

from what i saw, steve didnt put himself in any position that any other driver out there did thru out the race, only difference was the other driver's werent taken out twice by 2 rookies...unfortuneately, because steve was in that accident, he will never have the chance to work with a team and have time to gel, its either he does great right off or, he does so so and its because he was in that wreck and cant race anymore...he's in a no win situation unless he wins, hopefully him and the 62 team will put it all together this year and quiet things down for awhile... :)

Yeh i kind of think that Park is in a no win situation too, i just think he should of laid back a little instead of going for it like all the other guys were. He is a veteran and has to use his head, seemed to me like there were a lot of guys out there trying to win the race on the first lap. I too think his reaction time has diminished, i feel sorry for the guy,but if he has similiar problems at Atlanta there will be a lot distractors out there crying to get him out of the 62 ride.

Good to see Reutimann taking respnosibility for his actions, unlike that loser Weaver.

Q. David, your first race for Waltrip Motorsports, Toyota. Ninth place finish. A solid effort. You were up front, you were contending for the win. Are you pleased with the effort today?
DAVID REUTIMANN: Yeah, I mean, obviously I kind of made some pretty huge mistakes early on, but then -- I'm happy with the effort. I did a lot of stupid things, a lot of stuff they would call rookie mistakes. I made plenty of them.

I didn't really see whare Steve did anything wrong. Yes he was racing hard but aint that what you should do. If you dont they will run off and leave you.

Ironic that when Harvick gets bumped from behind by Rudd, Parkfan trashes him, but now Park gets bumped from behind, well, this thread explains it. Guess the tables are turned WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOUR DRIVER

Edited by majestyx due to the fact that Parkfan rewrote Happy29's post to make it suit Parkfan's feelings.

steve really came back way too early from his injury. when he gets interviewed you can notice he has trouble talking and pronoucing things. i really think he lost alot of his reaction time in that accident. i feel really bad for him too he was just hitting his stride in the cup series. i dont think he'll make it back to cup full time but we cant judge him on one race in the truck series and an accident at daytona that was not really his fault.
