Don't know what Steve is doing these days, but tonight, Saturday, August 2, Steve was at Bowman Gray Stadium for the annual NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified touring series 199 lap race. Steve's father used to run regularly on this tour but hasn't for a few years now. It was good to see Steve as he presented the pole award tonight. And the racing was great as well.

Steve was my favorite driver when he started driving in Busch. He won the very first race I went to (1997 Busch race at Richmond) and I stuck with him ever since.

I'd like to see him back in trucks or at least the Nationswide Series. He's never been the same after his crash at Atlanta, but I bet he could still drive with a decent team.
