Steve Park

And it becomes harder to accept that RCR and DEI had no idea that either of them were about to make these moves before Monday AM.

Not that it is any big deal if they did.

It's actually gonna be fun to watch the two teams. Unless other changes are made in one or both of the teams it will be a rare occasion to watch two drivers literally swap teams. Top of my head I don't think it has happened mid season before.

hardscrabble,

the last time two drivers switched midseason was when john andretti was driving the rca #98 car and jeremy mayfield was driving the #37 kmart car, john went to the #37 and mayfield went to the #98

if this is true it could be very interesting what the outcome is in the next couple of weeks, it could show who is the better driver, since both steve park and jeff green and virutally identical in the standings and every other aspect this season.

for dei its interesting because they get a driver who has a lot of fire in him, which could help the relatively cool mikey and junior

for rcr its also interesting because they get a driver who is real laid back, maybe robby and kevin's fire can help steve get more upbeat

i feel both teams collaborated in this driver switch

I am with you HS, I think this was planned before Monday morning.
Robby.31, you make some good points about the teams and their temperments (sp?). Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I would have rather seen M. Wallace in the car but if Park gets it thats fine with me.

Park needs to sit out for a while and take care of his health; this condition has been covered up by Park, DEI and NASCAR way too long.

Hey,I DID whimsically mention this yesterday!Guess it wasn't as far fetched as we thought.

All need to remember that Childress and Earnhardt are closely linked.RAD may be no more...but RD is still going strong. And of course this whole thing was pre-arranged.That is the only thing that makes since. It may just benefit both teams.

Mike Wallace will drive for the 01 car, he has signed with MB2 Motorsports.

first off, if this is true, then without a doubt they were in cahoots....but think about it..they were both havin crappy years so why not switch..RCR would be getting a popular, LOYAL driver and getting rid of the opposite....DEI would be getting a veteran driver with some experience and since the pennzoil contract is up at the end of the year, if green does good enuff keep him on, if not, then they can try out other drivers....on the plus side for steve if it goes this way, richard will give him some time and take some of the pressure off him......but for all we know, Dick Trickle will be in it...

Yeah I know back in 1996........But I think it was the other way around. John was driving for the Kranefuss-Haas team (#37 K-Mart) and Jeremy for Cale (#98 RCA) John went straight to RCA to get his three year deal with Cale approved.

But in that direct swap, the Kranefuss-Haas operation lost Tim Brewer as CC at approximately the same time the switch was made. To my way of thinking that makes the team very different.

But you;re right, I think that was the last time a direct switch was made. Seems I recall they switched one race and then switched back for the next race and then switched again for the third race. Late 1996.

Never a more true statement! I agree 100%

I agree that park needs to sit out for awhile and evaluate where he is in his health and his career. Could be there was some what of a cover up as far his health just like Jrs' condition was covered up. ;) ;)

I don't know about cover up...maybe hiding from reality? In any event I agree. He is in a hole and needs time away, not time to dig deeper.
