Saddled by an accumulation of losses, and apparently convinced his Fun 'n' Gun offense would not succeed in the NFL no matter how long he stayed, Steve Spurrier resigned as head coach of the Redskins on Tuesday after only two seasons.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen first reported that Spurrier had opted to step down, with the coach saying his departure was "in the best interests" of the franchise.

He never had that good of an offense to work his fun n gun. He always had old terrible second rate qb's one good reciver and one alright running back. Any other team with a fairly good qb and at least two good recivers would have loved this style.

Is Flordia gonna fire their guy and hire him back. :D
It wouldn't suprise me Gollum

I dont think Spurrier and the Redskins President really worked well together, guess Spurrier didnt like the way he was making all the decisions.

Well, theres always a home for Steve in San Francisco.

I kind of doubt he will end up coaching anywhere again. I really don't think his style fits the pro game and I'm not sure he would want to go back to coaching in college again.

That being said, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he does end up coaching in college again (maybe even at North Carolina).

Steve Spurrier doesn't need any more money and could spend the rest of his life golfing and doing public appearances. But he has a huge ego and you just never know what he might do at any moment.

Kentucky could use him. But us Vol fans don't want him in Ky. He gave us too much trouble in Flordia.

TV for a year, then Penn State maybe when Joepa goes quietly into that goodnight?
