I was certainly not expecting to see Steven Tyler join Carrie for a duet, much less a rockin' performance of an Aerosmith classic. A lot of folks say that when you mix country and rock, you get crock. But I think they pulled it off.

(on a side note, in my personal experience, a lot of country music fans are more open to rock 'n roll. It seems people who are rock fans first, hate country music. Tommy Lee once said he wants to kick the (_____) out of the speaker box from which any Garth Brooks song should play. But consider the source on that one.)

CMT airs a show called Crossroads that mixes both genres. I think their best show was the pairing of Brooks and Dunn with ZZ Top.

Best two that ever came out of American Idol are Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Most of them you can't even remember. A friend of mine and I were just saying the other day Kelly needs to put out a country album.

Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are the only two modern country artists I enjoy. Others I like or tolerate in small doses.

Fortunately, I had the pleasure of seeing Carrie Underwood AND Brad Paisley in concert together at First Mariner Baltimore a few years ago. My mom wanted to see Carrie Underwood and I wanted to see Brad Paisley so I bought her a ticket and we went up there.

Carrie Underwood reminds me of Martina McBride -- power ****ing house voice! She was one of very few people I liked to come out of Idol. I also liked: Jennifer Hudson, Diana DeGarmo, Ruben and Daughtry.
