Interesting comments from Tony Stewart about the most recent penalties of Busch/Harvick and what does 'Have at it Boys' really mean?
ON THE $25,000 FINE AND PROBATION KYLE BUSCH AND KEVIN HARVICK RECEIVED FROM NASCAR:
“I’m kind of feeling like I need to send NASCAR an invoice because I got penalized a lot more, had to pay a lot more in fines and more weeks of probation for doing a lot less than what happened this past weekend and the last two weeks. I feel like I’m owed some money back. We all know what the outcome will be, we’ll never see it.’’
“I’m kind of curious know to what the true meaning of Have at it Boys. What is it? I think they need to do a better job of explaining to all of us what it means and what it is acceptable and what is not acceptable. I’m all for whatever they want to do. I think there’s a lot of us are curious about what does this really mean and what’s acceptable and what’s not. I don’t think it’s out of the question to know what’s acceptable and what’s not acceptable.’’
YES, BUT ISN’T IT BEST FOR NASCAR TO HAVE SOME AMBIGUITY TO HAVE THAT POWER TO MAKE SURE YOU GUYS DON’T CROSS THE LINE TOO MUCH?
“I don’t think so. If you’re Kyle and Kevin right now and you’re having to pay $25,000 out of your pocket, you want to know what’s going to cost you money. You want to know what is acceptable and what’s not acceptable. I think we have a right to know.
“You want NASCAR to make sure they have the authority to do that. You have to have that. At the same time, don’t leave us the impression that you’re turning us loose and then, all of a sudden, you start throwing penalties and fines.
“We understand that’s got to happen, but give us the guidelines. Be fair to us and let us know. Then with maybe that knowledge those guys don’t get in that situation Saturday night.
“We don’t know. I’ve been driving in this series for 13 years and I don’t know what’s acceptable and what’s not. What’s the penalty? We know what’s right and what’s wrong, but sometimes you sit there and you weigh the option of is the penalty worth it? At least let us know what it is, so we have that option to make a decision.’’
