Still not a full field for Daytona

Here's the entry list

42 cars and a couple of them questionable. When did Dunleavy announce Shelmerdine in the 90?? That one took me by surprise.

2 more years of George W and we may not have half that field.

Well of course they will. 43rd place at Daytona pays upwards of 60K any team owner would be STUPID to pass up 60 grand to run a couple laps and park. I imagine thats what Shelmerdine will do, last I heard Junie only had 4 or 5 volunteers keeping his team shop from growing cobwebs. It sure is a dang shame tho that we dont have 43 viable competitors out there.

He may have been indicating that anything that is out of the norm, or anything that is wrong is President Bush's fault. (Shrug) My guess is that he is mocking his opponents.

But as far as the feild for the Daytona 500 I believe we will have upwards of 50 cars attempting to qualify.

I cannot see them not having 43 cars run. Like DJfan said even last place pays.

im goona get my 69 charger and run two laps and quit lol

I was just at NASCAR.com and counted 45 currently entered for the 500. This does include the #90 of Shelmerdine and Hermie Sadler who I thought was still iffy about the 500.

If they can only get 45 for the big payday at Daytona it's not a good sign for the lower paying racing this season.

I think there's only 41 full time rides right now.

TV contract guarentees 43 cars to start. There will be 43 cars on the starting line...you can bank on that.

I'll be rootin' for ya PettyFan4life, it should be quite a sight to see! Hey how about a General Lee paint scheme, that would be great!

My George W comment was in response to all the sponsors blaming the downward spiral of the economy on their inability to make committments at this time. They are apparently waiting for a Democrat to get back into office. Thats as far as I am gonna go with the political bull.

isnt there usually like 55 - 65 qualifiers for the 500. whats the deal?

You can bet by sunday there will be at least 50 cars attempting to qualify. There always is and this year will be no exception, and as for the economy i'd gladly take Bush over the thief and liar Clinton any day. I won't go any further with that comment <_<

Hermie was testing down at Daytona so I think he will bring his car down there for the 500. Its a Pontaic thats the cool part. I would not be surprise if People like AJ foyt( possibly an IRL driver?) and possibly Brett Bodine(Geoffrey?) pull a second car if they have to for the 500

i can't resist, at least when Clinton was screwing interns, there were jobs and money available, and we were also not spending all our money on making the president look like he's defending the country while the rest of American life goes to hell...i hate talking politics, but i just can't stop arguing

There will be 43 cars at Daytona. I think a few Busch teams will move up to full time Cup later in the year if there are not enough cars to fill the field.
